Odd Euler Sums and Harmonic Series with Cubic Central Binomial Coefficients in Denominators

open access: yesAxioms
By means of the coefficient extraction method, we examine a transformation of a classical hypergeometric series. Three classes of infinite series (of convergence rate “1/4”) with harmonic numbers in numerators and cubic central binomial coefficients in ...

Infiltrating ductal carcinoma breast with central necrosis closely mimicking ductal carcinoma in situ (comedo type): a case series

open access: yesJournal of Medical Case Reports, 2007
Here we present a series of infiltrative ductal carcinoma breast cases (infiltrative ductal carcinoma with central necrosis) so closely mimicking 'DCIS with central comedo necrosis' that on initial morphological analysis these foci of tumors were labeled

Unraveling LINE‐1 retrotransposition in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The novel RetroTest method allows the detection of L1 activation in clinical samples with low DNA input, providing global L1 activity and the identification of the L1 source element. We applied RetroTest to a real‐world cohort of HNSCC patients where we reported an early L1 activation, with more than 60% of T1 patients showing L1 activity.

Synthesis and Characterization of Bent-rod Liquid Crystals

open access: yesMolecules, 2000
Two series of diesters with bend-rod shapes were synthesized and their thermal properties characterized by POM and DSC. The central group conformational mobility and polarity as well as the length of the mesogenic groups were varied in order to correlate

BMP antagonist CHRDL2 enhances the cancer stem‐cell phenotype and increases chemotherapy resistance in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Overexpression of CHRDL2 in colon cancer cells makes them more stem‐like and resistant to chemo‐ and radiotherapy. CHRDL2‐high cells have upregulation of the WNT pathway, genes involved in the DNA damage response (DDR) pathway and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT). This leads to quicker repair of damaged DNA and more cell migration.

The complexity of central series in nilpotent computable groups

open access: yesAnnals of Pure and Applied Logic, 2011
AbstractThe terms of the upper and lower central series of a nilpotent computable group have computably enumerable Turing degree. We show that the Turing degrees of these terms are independent even when restricted to groups which admit computable orders.

Simultaneous inhibition of TRIM24 and TRIM28 sensitises prostate cancer cells to antiandrogen therapy, decreasing VEGF signalling and angiogenesis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
TRIM24 and TRIM28 are androgen receptor (AR) coregulators which exhibit increased expression with cancer progression. Both TRIM24 and TRIM28 combine to influence the response of castrate‐resistant prostate cancer (CRPC) cells to AR inhibitors by mediating AR signalling, regulation of MYC and upregulating VEGF to promote angiogenesis. Castrate‐resistant

Central catecholaminergic blockade with clonidine prevent SARS-CoV-2 complication: A case series

open access: yesIDCases, 2021
Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is a life-threating viral infection that is highly transmissible and be lethal. Although many patients with mild symptoms recover, an acute form of the infection is characterized by rapidly ...
