Red blood cell derived extracellular vesicles during the process of autologous blood doping

open access: yesDrug Testing and Analysis, Volume 14, Issue 11-12, Page 1984-1994, November-December 2022., 2022
Six, healthy volunteers donated their blood and were transfused with their red blood cell concentrate after 35–36 days of storage. RBC‐EVs showed highly significant increase (p < 0.001) from an average of 60.1 ± 19.8 (103/μL) at baseline to 179.3 ± 84.7 (103/μL) in the first 1–3 h after transfusion.

Malpositioning of Central Venous Catheter : Two Case Reports

open access: yesIndian Journal of Anaesthesia, 2008
Malpositioning of central venous catheter inserted into subclavian vein is a known and dreaded complication. Malpositioning of catheter tip into contralateral subclavian is an extremely unusual occurrence.

Inadvertent Traumatic Fracture of Central Venous Catheter during Procurement, Transmitted Through Solid Organ Transplant

open access: yesCase Reports in Transplantation, 2018
Central venous catheters play a pivotal role in the perioperative support of critically ill patients. They are used for administration of fluids, vasopressors, blood products, and various medications; however, their use may be associated with serious ...

Automatic catheter detection in pediatric X-ray images using a scale-recurrent network and synthetic data [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Catheters are commonly inserted life supporting devices. X-ray images are used to assess the position of a catheter immediately after placement as serious complications can arise from malpositioned catheters. Previous computer vision approaches to detect catheters on X-ray images either relied on low-level cues that are not sufficiently robust or only ...

Red Blood Cell‐Induced Bacterial Margination Improves Microbial Hemoadsorption on Engineered Cell‐Depleted Thrombi, Restoring Severe Bacteremia in Rats

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A highly efficient extracorporeal device for treating bacteremia is developed by integrating microfluidic bacterial margination and engineered cell‐depleted thrombi strategically constructed in the device. The rodent models, severely infected with antibiotic‐resistant bacteria, recover from bacteremia after two subsequent extracorporeal blood ...

Fish Swim Bladder‐Derived ECM Hydrogels Effectively Treat Myocardial Ischemic Injury through Immunomodulation and Angiogenesis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A unique hydrogel based on extracellular matrix from fish swim bladder, which is suitable for transcatheter delivery and possesses remarkable reparative capabilities for treating heart failure, is developed. It emerges as a multi‐effect factor profoundly influencing inflammation regulation, angiogenesis, and myocardial metabolism.
