Misplaced central venous catheter? [PDF]
We report a very unusual chest x-ray finding in a 23-year-old woman who attended our Emergency Department (ED) after sustaining a respiratory arrest following a seizure. She had a complicated medical history having undergone spinal surgery, a tracheostomy and having experienced hypoxic brain injury.

The development of hydrogel‐impregnated robust interlocking nano connector (HiRINC) aims to address stent migration by improving tissue adhesion and reducing mechanical mismatch in self‐expandable metallic stents (SEMSs). The network‐like porous layer of HiRINC enhances adhesion and energy dissipation, demonstrates through ex vivo and in vivo tests ...

Conformance Checking for a Medical Training Process Using Petri net Simulation and Sequence Alignment [PDF]
Process Mining has recently gained popularity in healthcare due to its potential to provide a transparent, objective and data-based view on processes. Conformance checking is a sub-discipline of process mining that has the potential to answer how the actual process executions deviate from existing guidelines. In this work, we analyze a medical training

The Malposition of Central Venous Catheters in Children [PDF]
Contemporary medical care, especially in the field of pediatrics often requires central venous line (CVC - Central Venous Catheter) implantation for carrying out treatment. Some conditions are treated intravenously for several months, other require long-term venous access due to periodical administration of medications or daily nutritional ...

Automated Detection and Type Classification of Central Venous Catheters in Chest X-Rays [PDF]
Central venous catheters (CVCs) are commonly used in critical care settings for monitoring body functions and administering medications. They are often described in radiology reports by referring to their presence, identity and placement. In this paper, we address the problem of automatic detection of their presence and identity through automated ...

Automatic classification of multiple catheters in neonatal radiographs with deep learning [PDF]
We develop and evaluate a deep learning algorithm to classify multiple catheters on neonatal chest and abdominal radiographs. A convolutional neural network (CNN) was trained using a dataset of 777 neonatal chest and abdominal radiographs, with a split of 81%-9%-10% for training-validation-testing, respectively.
