The centrality of Central Asia

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of International Relations, 2014
This article aims to highlight the major historical and geopolitical characteristics of Central Asia. The central argument is that this is a region of major importance in the current economic arena as a result of its strategic position as a link between East and West, a space of competition and reinforcement of the great powers.

On central loops and the central square property

open access: yes, 2007
The representation sets of a central square C-loop are investigated. Isotopes of central square C-loops of exponent 4 are shown to be both C-loops and A-loops.

Subclinical Optic Nerve Involvement in Radiologically Isolated Syndrome: Multimodal Detection and Diagnostic Impact

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives We aimed to determine the frequency of subclinical optic nerve (ON) lesions using MRI, optical coherence tomography (OCT), and visual evoked potentials (VEP) in radiologically isolated syndrome (RIS), and to assess their diagnostic and prognostic significance.

Neurochemical Endpoints to Inform Early‐Stage Trials of Spinocerebellar Ataxia 2 and 3 in a Multisite Setting

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Neurochemical levels measured by brain MR spectroscopy (MRS) have been proposed as endpoints for clinical trials in early‐stage spinocerebellar ataxia (SCA) trials. We tested their trial‐readiness by quantifying neurochemicals in three affected brain regions in early‐stage cohorts of SCA2 and SCA3, examining their reproducibility in ...

On the centralizer of the centralizer of a matrix

open access: yesLinear Algebra and its Applications, 1997
For \(S,T\subset M_n(F)\) (where \(M_n(F)\) is the algebra of all \(n\times n\) matrices over an arbitrary field \(F\)) let \({\mathcal C}_T(S)= \{B\in T: AB=BA\) for all \(A\in S\}\). For each \(A\in M_n(F)\), it is well-known that \({\mathcal C}_{M_n(F)}({\mathcal C}_{M_n(F)}(A))= F[A]\), the algebra of polynomials in \(A\) over \(F\).

Effect of Implementing a Dashboard With or Without a Best Practice Alert on HLA‐B*58:01 Testing Rates Among Allopurinol Users at VA Medical Centers

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective The American College of Rheumatology recommends HLA‐B*58:01 allele testing before the initiation of allopurinol, specifically among Asian and African American/Black patients, due to their increased risk for severe hypersensitivity reactions. However, testing rates remain low at many health care facilities.

The Central Hull and Central Kernel in JBW*-Triples

open access: yesJournal of Algebra, 2002
Let \(A\) be a JBW*-triple. The authors introduce the concepts of central hull \(c(L)\) and central kernel \(k(L)\) of an arbitrary subspace \(L\) of \(A.\) These are, respectively, the smallest element of the complete Boolean algebra \({\mathcal ZI}(A)\) of the weak*-closed ideals in \(A\) containing \(L\) and the largest element in \({\mathcal ZI}(A)\
