Study on distribution of sidewall earth pressure on open caissons considering soil arching effect

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2023
Based on the soil arching effect theory, the magnitude and distribution of sidewall earth pressure on open caissons when the embedded depth is large was analyzed by using theory of non-limit state earth pressure theory and horizontal differential element

Studies of Deformation Properties of Collapsible Loess Foundation under Overburden Pressure with Large Thickness by Centrifugal Model Test

open access: yesIOP Conference Series: Earth and Environment, 2019
At present, laboratory test and field immersion test are the primary methods to study the collapsibility characteristics of loess foundation. However, the stress state of laboratory test usually does not conform to the actual in-site situation, while the

Load-bearing response of deep content mixing soft soil composite foundation based on the geotechnical centrifugal model test

open access: yesIOP Conference Series: Earth and Environment
Deep cement mixing (DCM) is an effective method of treating soft underwater soil foundations. Currently, the real-time failure development of a composite foundation cannot be obtained by most model tests of DCM pile foundation reinforcement.

Test method for axial force at pile top in centrifugal model tests on pile-net composite foundation

open access: yesYantu gongcheng xuebao
The pile-net composite foundation is a common soft soil reinforcement measurement. In order to analyze the pile-soil stress ratio, it is necessary to measure the axial force at the pile top and the soil pressure between piles in the centrifugal model ...

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Peripheral lysosomes recruit PLEKHG3 to focal adhesions and restrain protrusion dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Proximity‐dependent labeling at the LAMTOR complex revealed the Rho GEF PLEKHG3 as a lysosome‐proximal protein directing the study toward the influence of lysosome positioning on actin dynamics and cell motility. We show that PLEKHG3 colocalizes with lysosomes at focal adhesion sites and observe that forced peripheral dispersion of lysosomes hinders ...

An assessment of the role of the centrifugal acceleration mechanism in high altitude polar cap oxygen ion outflow [PDF]

open access: yesAnnales Geophysicae, 2008
The role of the centrifugal acceleration mechanism for ion outflow at high altitude above the polar cap has been investigated. Magnetometer data from the four Cluster spacecraft has been used to obtain an estimate of magnetic field gradients. This is

Sudden anaerobization in Amphibacillus xylanus increases intracellular labile ferrous iron and inhibits cell growth

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Abruptly changing from aerobic to anaerobic conditions (sudden anaerobization) induced growth inhibition and a significant increase in intracellular labile ferrous iron in the aerotolerant anaerobe Amphibacillus xylanus. We found that free flavins mediate efficient electron transfer from NADH to ferric iron under anaerobic conditions, suggesting that ...

Development of layered models for geotechnical centrifuge tests [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Centrifuge modelling is an established technique for investigating the ground response to complex and non-standard geotechnical events. These models are usually made from re-formed soil, allowing for comparisons with naturally occurring soil deposits. Clay models are formed by mixing clay powder and water into a slurry.
