Observations on Centrifugation: Application to Centrifuge Development [PDF]
Abstract This report outlines the background to the development of an automated, serial, discrete centrifuge, reporting on the criteria considered essential in such an instrument. We established the criteria by examining the detailed logistics of centrifuge operation in a hospital laboratory.

Dynamic electron-phonon and spin-phonon interactions due to inertia [PDF]
THz radiation allows for the controlled excitation of vibrational modes in molecules and crystals. We show that the circular motion of ions introduces inertial effects on electrons. In analogy to the classical Coriolis and centrifugal forces, these effects are the spin-rotation coupling, the centrifugal field coupling, the centrifugal spin-orbit ...

State- and molecule-selective rotational control in gas mixtures with a shaped optical centrifuge [PDF]
We demonstrate experimentally a method of all-optical selective rotational control in gas mixtures. Using an optical centrifuge - an intense laser pulse whose linear polarization rotates at an accelerated rate, we simultaneously excite two different molecular species to two different rotational frequencies of choice.

The effect of the centrifugal acceleration on period spacings of gravito-inertial modes in intermediate-mass stars [PDF]
The Kepler and TESS missions delivered high-precision, long-duration photometric time series for hundreds of main-sequence stars with gravito-inertial (g) pulsation modes. This high precision allows us to evaluate increasingly detailed theoretical stellar models.

Life on Earth has developed at unit gravity, 9.81 m/s2, which was a major factor especially when vertebrates emerged from water onto land in the late Devonian, some 375 million years ago. But how would nature have evolved on a larger planet? We are able to address this question simply in experiments using centrifuges.

Adiabatic field-free alignment of asymmetric top molecules with an optical centrifuge [PDF]
We use an optical centrifuge to align asymmetric top $\mathrm{SO_2}$ molecules by adiabatically spinning their most polarizable O-O axis. The effective centrifugal potential in the rotating frame confines sulfur atoms to the plane of the laser-induced rotation, leading to the planar molecular alignment which persists after the molecules are released ...

Dynamics of blood cells during a routine laboratory examination [PDF]
Centrifugation is a commonly performed laboratory procedure that helps to separate blood cells such as $RBCs$, $WBCs$, and platelets from plasma or serum. Although centrifugation is a routine procedure in most medical laboratories, the factors that affect the efficacy of the centrifugation process have never been studied analytically. In this paper, we

Tornado-Like Vortices in the Quasi-Cyclostrophic Regime of Coriolis-Centrifugal Convection [PDF]
Coriolis-centrifugal convection (C$^3$) in a cylindrical domain constitutes an idealised model of tornadic storms, where the rotating cylinder represents the mesocyclone of a supercell thunderstorm. We present a suite of C$^3$ direct numerical simulations, analysing the influence of centrifugal buoyancy on the formation of tornado-like vortices (TLVs).

Centrifugal Barrier and Super-Keplerian Rotation in Protostellar Disk Formation [PDF]
With the advent of ALMA, it is now possible to observationally constrain how disks form around deeply embedded protostars. In particular, the recent ALMA C3H2 line observations of the nearby protostar L1527 have been interpreted as evidence for the so-called "centrifugal barrier," where the protostellar envelope infall is gradually decelerated to a ...

The influence of quantum field fluctuations on chaotic dynamics of Yang-Mills system II. The role of the centrifugal term [PDF]
We have considered SU(2)xU(1) gauge field theory describing electroweak interactions. We have demonstrated that centrifugal term in model Hamiltonian increases the region of regular dynamics of Yang-Mills and Higgs fields system at low densities of energy.
