Separation of brewer pellets in a vibratory-centrifugal centrifuge [PDF]
The article reflects the process of dehydration of brewer pellets, as one of the ways to solve the problem of their utilization in order to obtain a highly concentrated feed for farm animals, which is an urgent task. The purpose of the study is to substantiate the interrelation between the technological and physical properties of the brewer pellets ...

Making tau amyloid models in vitro: a crucial and underestimated challenge
This review highlights the challenges of producing in vitro amyloid assemblies of the tau protein. We review how accurately the existing protocols mimic tau deposits found in the brain of patients affected with tauopathies. We discuss the important properties that should be considered when forming amyloids and the benchmarks that should be used to ...

Bench-scale centrifuge testing to determine the hydraulic conductivity of chayey soils [PDF]
The purpose of this research is to validate a mathematical model for flow through saturated and unsaturated porous media using a bench-scale centrifuge for an accurate determination of the hydraulic conductivity (function of the saturation degree of a ...

Bouncing Neutrons and the Neutron Centrifuge [PDF]
The recent observation of the quantum state of the neutron bouncing freely under gravity allows some novel experiments. A method of purifying the ground state is given, and possible applications to the measurement of the electric dipole moment of the ...

Toll‐like receptors (TLRs) are important in the innate immune system. This study explores the zinc‐binding ability of the TLR2 TIR domain (TLR2TIR). We found that TLR2TIR binds zinc with nanomolar affinity through its cysteine residues. Two of them, C673 and C713, are vital for receptor activation, indicating that zinc may play a role in initiating ...

Particle acceleration in rotating and shearing jets from AGN [PDF]
We model the acceleration of energetic particles due to shear and centrifugal effects in rotating astrophysical jets. The appropriate equation describing the diffusive transport of energetic particles in a collisionless, rotating background flow is derived and analytical steady state solutions are discussed.

centrifugeR: Non-trivial balance of centrifuge rotors
Centrifuges are indispensable instruments in biology laboratories. For the safe operation of centrifuges, ensuring balance is a must. Loading test tubes in opposite holes and adding dummy tubes are far from the only ways to balance the centrifuge rotors.
