Centrifuge model testing at Caltech
International Journal of Soil Dynamics and Earthquake Engineering, 1983Abstract In the past eight years a variety of model tests has been performed on the geotechnical centrifuge at Caltech. They include soil mechanics experiments, such as static and dynamic pile and foundation tests, and other investigations of a more geographical nature where ground faulting and earthquake motions have been modeled.

Centrifugal model tests of the Lodalen landslide
Canadian Geotechnical Journal, 1978The slide which occurred at Lodalen, Oslo in 1954 was used to compare the behaviour of soil models tested in a centrifuge with a well-documented prototype event. The paper describes the centrifugal testing of three models prepared from block samples in which an attempt was made to simulate the stress history of the site.

Numerical modelling of centrifuge tests on tunnel–soil systems
Bulletin of Earthquake Engineering, 2014The number of tunnels in seismic regions has grown significantly in recent decades. It has usually been assumed that tunnels perform better than surface structures during seismic events. However, recent cases have shown that tunnels can be significantly damaged by seismic events.

Model tests of silo discharge in a geotechnical centrifuge
Powder Technology, 2016Abstract Scaled models are often used to study the behaviour of silo discharge, however the effects of gravity on silo discharge have not yet been quantified. In this paper, the effects of gravity on silo discharge and internal flow patterns are investigated with reference to the widely used Beverloo correlation.

PHOTOGRAMMETRY IN CENTRIFUGAL TESTING OF SOIL MODELS
The Photogrammetric Record, 1973AbstractSince 1969 photogrammetric techniques have been employed as a means of obtaining precise measurements of surface movement of soil models spinning in a centrifuge at a speed of up to 45 m s‐1. Over 100 soil model tests have been performed on about 12 different types of soil stability problem during this period.
