Centrifuge modeling to support the design of subsea pipelines

open access: yes, 2012
Offshore geotechnical engineering is characterized by unusual soil and loading conditions, a continuously moving frontier resulting in the requirement for innovative geotechnical solutions, and the very high cost associated with in-situ soil ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Modelling failure mechanisms of soft cliff profiles

open access: yes, 2006
A large proportion of the 11,000 km coastline of the United Kingdom is backed by soft cliffs. These cliffs are subject to frequent slumping and landslip events, particularly where sea and ground water percolates into the soil and rock.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Simulation of dynamic loading in centrifuge modeling for suction bucket foundations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Suction bucket foundations are widely used in the offshore platform for the exploitation of the offshore petroleum and natural gas resources in the Bohai Bay of China.

Response of Monopiles Under Lateral Loading By Centrifuge Modeling

open access: yesنشریه مهندسی دریا, 2016
One of the most common methods to analyze and design monopiles under lateral load is load-displacement curves, particularly the p-y curves, at different locations of the structure.

Co-estimation of saturation functions (k r and P c) from unsteady-state core-flood experiment in tight carbonate rocks

open access: yesJournal of Petroleum Exploration and Production Technology, 2018
The production from oil and gas reservoirs is greatly affected by rock and fluid properties of the porous rock. Capillary pressure (P c) and relative permeability (k r) are two important properties employed in the mathematical simulation reservoirs for ...

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Centrifuge modeling of monopiles

open access: yes, 2010
To gain a larger knowledge of the monopile foundation concept, centrifuge modeling is used by the geotechnical group at DTU. The centrifuge operated at DTU is a beam centrifuge and was built in 1976.

Feasibility Study of Centrifuge Modeling of SAGD Caprock Integrity

open access: yes, 2016
The Joslyn steam release incident in 2006 has significantly influenced the approval process for steam assisted gravity drainage (SAGD) projects, which now require rigorous caprock integrity assessment to be conducted.
