Pioneers of centrifuge modelling

International Journal of Physical Modelling in Geotechnics, 2015
Although the concept of using a centrifuge to model engineering structures arose in the nineteenth century, the practice began only in the 1930s, in America and Russia. This paper provides details of the careers of four pioneers, primarily in the period prior to 1945 – Bucky, Davidenkov, Fedorov and Pokrovsky.

Centrifuge modelling

2010
This chapter helps the reader in understanding some of the practical considerations and reviews some of the apparatus and techniques available to the centrifuge modeller. There are many different types of centrifuges, used for example in material processing, aeronautics and motion simulation.

Centrifugal force model for pedestrian dynamics

Physical Review E, 2005
In this paper, a centrifugal force model is developed for pedestrian dynamics. The effects of both the headway and the relative velocity among pedestrians are taken into account, which can be expressed by a "centrifugal force" term in dynamic equation. The jamming probability due to the arching at exits for crowd flows is provided.

Mathematical and physical modelling of rainfall in centrifuge

International Journal of Physical Modelling in Geotechnics, 2015
Rainfall simulation in centrifuge models is important for modelling soil–atmosphere interactions. However, the presence of Coriolis force, drag forces, evaporation and wind within the centrifuge may affect the distribution of rainfall over the model.

Centrifugal Pump Modeling

2019
Centrifugal pumps are one of the most important components in power plants. They are also widely used in industry. This chapter presents the different types of pump components (dynamic and static centrifugal pumps) and gives a detailed description of the physical equations for each of them: modeling assumptions and fundamental equations. A test-case is

Mathematical modelling of sedimentation processes in a centrifuge

Separation Science and Technology, 1991
Abstract A mathematical model describing concentration-dependent sedimentation in a centrifuge is suggested. The present model contains the already existing models as partial cases, and it has some advantages. An interactive system for numerical solution of the model equations was created.
