Numerical Simulation of Piles in a Liquefied Slope Using a Modified Soil–Pile Interface Model

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2023
The liquefaction of soil surrounding a pile significantly affects the dynamic interaction between the soil and the pile. In particular, liquefaction of the sloping ground can induce permanent deformation and a bending moment on the pile due to the ...

Instability simulation of the submerged anti-dip slope based on the CFD-DEM coupling method

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science, 2023
More and more underwater-related geotechnical problems have arisen, but there is little research about the instability process of submerged anti-dip slopes.

A Novel Centrifugal Diffuser Test Device [PDF]

open access: yesVolume 1: Aircraft Engine; Turbomachinery, 1985
A large scale (2 inch wide test vanes at 50-inch inlet diameter), low speed (100–200 ft/sec) steady flow radial cascade wind tunnel for diffuser studies was designed, built and tested. The apparatus was shown to provide flow angles from radial in the range 58–72 degrees with suitable spanwise profiles.

Influence of Centrifuge Temperature on Routine Coagulation Testing [PDF]

open access: yesClinical Chemistry, 2006
A standardized procedure for specimen collection is essential to achieve accurate and reliable coagulation measurements (1). Efforts have been made to identify the most suitable procedures for collecting, handling, and storing specimens for coagulation testing (2)(3)(4)(5)(6), including a recommendation that samples be centrifuged at room temperature ...

WAVE PROPAGATION THROUGH SOILS IN CENTRIFUGE TESTING [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Earthquake Engineering, 1998
Wave propagation phenomena in soils can be experimentally simulated using centrifuge scale models. An original excitation device (drop-ball arrangement) is proposed to generate short wave trains. Wave reflections on model boundaries are taken into account and removed by homomorphic filtering. Propagation is investigated through dispersion laws.

Photogrammetry low-cost for geotechnical centrifuge modelling test [PDF]

open access: yesThe International Archives of the Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing and Spatial Information Sciences
The buildings design is based on a thorough geotechnical study. Knowing the physical and mechanical properties of soils and rocks is a must for engineering calculations.

Using the molecular dynamics method of LAMMPS software in OpenFOAM open source software to analyze a gas centrifuge machine [PDF]

open access: yesمجله علوم و فنون هسته‌ای, 2023
In order to modeling the gas behavior inside the rotor of a gas centrifuge, a powerful tool is needed to overcome the computational constraints of gas inside the centrifuge along with the ability to apply all drives at the all flow regimes.

Regenerative capacity of leukocyte-rich and platelet-rich fibrin in indirect sinus elevation procedure may be dependent on model-specific modification of the centrifugation cycle

open access: yesContemporary Clinical Dentistry, 2019
Context: To compare optical density (OD) and fibrinogen content of leukocyte-rich and platelet-rich fibrin (L-PRF) generated by standard protocol (2700 rotations per minute [RPM] for 12 min) versus relative centrifugal force (RCF)-adjusted protocol ...

Centrifuge modeling of the behaviour of helical piles in cohesive soils from installation and axial loading

open access: yesSoils and Foundations, 2022
Centrifuge modeling offers a viable tool for research in the soil-pile interaction, but this technique has not been used for helical piles in cohesive soils.

LEAP-UCD-2017 Centrifuge Test at University of California, Davis

open access: yesModel Tests and Numerical Simulations of Liquefaction and Lateral Spreading, 2019
Three centrifuge experiments were performed at the University of California, Davis, for LEAP-UCD-2017. LEAP is a collaborative effort to assess repeatability of centrifuge test results and to provide data for the validation of numerical models used to ...
