SUMMARYCentrocestus formosanus is a digenetic trematode from Asia that parasitizes multiple hosts and is a concern in the Comal River, Texas, USA, because of its negative effects on the endangered fountain darter Etheostoma fonticola. To determine a practical sampling method to monitor C.

A description is given of cercarial chaetotaxy of two Centrocestinae (Heterophyidae, Opisthorchioidea) from Malaysia: Centrocestus formosanus and Centrocestus sp.--Comparison with cercarial chaetotaxy of taxonomically related groups indicates that 1. The chaetotaxy of the Centrocestinae agrees with that of other Opisthorchioidea, 2.

Centrocestus formosanus is a small, fish-borne zoonotic trematode belonging to the family Heterophyidae. It causes financial losses in the aquaculture industry. In this research, we aimed to study the prevalence of metacercariae among wild tilapia fish, histopathology, and molecular characterization of Centrocestus formosanus using ITS-2 gene PCR.

ABSTRACTThe minute intestinal trematode Centrocestus formosanus is a major problem that can be found in the gills of various fish species. This parasite can destroy the gill structure of fish, leading to increased fish morbidity and mortality rates. In this study, loop‐mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) based on the internal transcript spacer 1 ...

The metacercariae of Centrocestus formosanus (Nishigori 1924) occur on the gills of freshwater fishes in association with blood vessels. The microecology of the metacercariae on the gills of the cyprinid fish Aplocheilus panchax (Ham. & Buch.) was investigated. The cysts showed a preference for anterior gills and for the dorsal section of each gill.
