Cepheids as Distance Indicators: Some Current Problems
A general review is given of the calibration of the Cepheid distance scale, with particular reference to its use in the determination of H0. Emphasis is placed on the advantage of using a galactic calibration of the Cepheid scale, rather than relying on an adopted distance to the LMC. It is then possible to use LMC data to test for possible metallicity

THE CEPHEID DISTANCE TO NGC 0247
We report VRI CCD observations of nine Cepheids in the South Polar (Sculptor) Group spiral galaxy NGC 0247. Periods of these Cepheids range from 20 to 70 days. Over the past 20 years, the brightest Cepheid in our sample, NGC 0247:[MF09] C1, has decreased its period by 6%, faded by 0.8 mag in the V band, and become bluer by 0.23 mag in (V–I).

We present phase-corrected photometric measurements of 88 Cepheid variables in the core of the Small Magellanic Cloud (SMC), the first sample obtained with the Hubble Space Telescope's (HST) Wide Field Camera 3, in the same homogeneous photometric system

Calibrating the Cepheid distance scalewith Gaia
Cepheid stars play a considerable role as astronomical distances indicators thanks to the empirical relation between their pulsation period and intrinsic luminosity: the PL relation. The uncertainty on this relation is the largest contributor to the error budget of the Hubble constant, that describes the Universe's expansion.

The Cepheid Distance to NGC 4414 [PDF]
AbstractA search for Cepheids in NGC 4414 has been performed using HST archive data. Accurate photometry for this galaxy is challenging due to its high surface brightness background with steep gradients and the rather low S/N of stellar point sources.

The Araucaria Project. Near-Infrared Photometry of Cepheid Variables in the Sculptor Galaxy NGC 55
We have obtained deep images in the near-infrared J and K filters of four fields in the Sculptor Group spiral galaxy NGC 55 with the ESO VLT and ISAAC camera. For 40 long-period Cepheid variables in these fields which were recently discovered by Pietrzy{\

Ultra-long-period Cepheids as Standard Candles from Gaia to Rubin-LSST
An analysis of the properties of ultra-long-period Cepheids (ULPs) could significantly contribute to understanding the Hubble constant tension, e.g., the current discrepancy between determinations based on local distance indicators and those relying on ...

Highlights on eclipsing binary variables from Araucaria Project
The Araucaria Project, which main goal is to provide precise determination of the cosmic distance scale, has recently made a set of discoveries involving variable stars in binary systems. Among these discoveries we highlight three: 1% precise measurement
