Distances and Radii of Classical Cepheids
Highlights of Astronomy, 1980Suppose one of the current high angular resolution instruments were capable of measuring the instantaneous angular diameter of a Cepheid throughout its pulsation cycle. By comparing the angular diameter variation to the linear displacement variation, obtained from the integrated radial velocity curve, one could determine both the linear radius and the ...

Distance Determination with Cepheid Variables
1999Cepheid variables have long formed the backbone of the extra-galactic distance scale. The HST has greatly increased the range of Cepheid studies, making many more galaxies available for calibrating secondary distance indicators. This makes the calibration of the Cepheid period-luminosity relations, and investigations of systematic uncertainties, of ...

Distances and Kinematics of Classical Cepheids
2003The Hipparcos Catalogue supplies high precise astrometric observations of stars. The measurements of trigonometric parallaxes for the classical Cepheids provides the best opportunity for reexamining the PL relation. Combining proper motions and radial velocities, we have studied the Cepheid kinematics on the basis of 3D-model.
