CEPHEID VARIABLE STARS IN THE PEGASUS DWARF IRREGULAR GALAXY: CONSTRAINTS ON THE STAR FORMATION HISTORY

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal, 2009
Observations of the resolved stars obtained over a period of 11 years in the Local Group dwarf irregular galaxy Pegasus have been used to search for Cepheid variable stars. Images were obtained in 55 epochs in the V band and in 24 epochs in the I band. We have identified 26 Cepheids and have obtained their light curves and periods.

Testing ultralow amplitude Cepheid candidates in the Galactic disk by TESS and Gaia

open access: yes, 2023
Ultralow amplitude (ULA) and strange mode Cepheids are thought to be pulsating variable stars that are near to or are at the edges of the classical instability strip.

The Orbit and Mass of the Cepheid AW Per

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
The Cepheid AW Per is a component in a multiple system with a long-period orbit. The radial velocities of Griffin cover the 38 yr orbit well. An extensive program of interferometry with the Center for High Angular Resolution Astronomy array is reported ...

Chicago–Carnegie Hubble Program: A Multiwavelength Search for the Effects of Metallicity on the Cepheid Distance Scale. I. Empirical Evidence

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Understanding the effects of metallicity on the multiwavelength properties of Cepheids is of continuing importance for their effective use as extragalactic distance indicators and an accurate measure of the Hubble constant, H _0 .

Ultra-low Amplitude Variables in the LMC -- Classical Cepheids, Pop. II Cepheids, RV Tau Stars and Binary Variables

open access: yes, 2009
A search for variable stars with ultra-low amplitudes (ULA), in the millimag range, has been made in the combined MACHO and OGLE data bases in the broad vicinity of the Cepheid instability strip in the HR diagram. A total of 25 singly periodic and 4 multiply periodic ULA objects has been uncovered.

THE LUMINOSITY SCALE OF CEPHEID VARIABLE STARS: A REVISION

open access: yes, 1984
The period-luminosity-color relation for classical Cepheids is discussed in terms of a recent re-determinations of the distance moduli of open clusters with Cepheid members. The distance moduli of eight clusters with well established Cepheid members were

The Araucaria project. Bright variable stars in NGC 6822 from a wide-field imaging survey

open access: yes, 2006
We have performed a search for variable stars in the dwarf irregular galaxy NGC 6822 using wide-field multi-epoch VI photometry down to a limiting magnitude $V \sim 22$. Apart from the Cepheid variables in this galaxy already reported in an earlier paper

An Exercise on the Use of Cepheid Variable Stars As Astronomical Distance Indicators for Introductory Earth-Science Classes

open access: yes, 1992
In an effort to provide additional opportunities for active, cooperative learning by students in introductory earth-science classes, I have developed an exercise on the use of cepheid-variable stars as distance indicators. Cepheid-variable stars were the
