The Araucaria Project. Bright Variable Stars in NGC 6822 from a Wide-Field Imaging Survey

open access: yes, 2006
We have performed a search for variable stars in the dwarf irregular galaxy NGC 6822 using wide-field multi-epoch VI photometry down to a limiting magnitude $V$ $\sim$ 22.

Patient‐reported outcomes: active surveillance vs radical therapies in low‐risk prostate cancer

open access: yesBJU International, Volume 137, Issue 4, Page 716-727, April 2026.
Objective To prospectively evaluate functional patient‐reported outcomes (PROs) in patients with low‐risk prostate cancer (PCa) managed with active surveillance (AS), nerve‐sparing radical prostatectomy (NS‐RP), non‐NS‐RP, or radiotherapy (RT). Patients and Methods This multicentre prospective cohort study used data from the Prostate Cancer Outcomes ...

The luminosity scale of Cepheid variable stars - A revison

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 1984
The period-luminosity-color relation for classical Cepheids is discussed in terms of a recent redeterminations of the distance moduli of open clusters with Cepheid members. The distance moduli of eight clusters with well established Cepheid members were determined from Stromgren four-color and Hp photometry of the B stars.

The Dependence of the Extinction Coefficient on Reddening for Galactic Cepheids

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Cepheids are fundamental distance indicators, playing a crucial role not only in the cosmic distance ladder but also in mapping the structure, kinematics, and extinction properties of the Milky Way.

The Araucaria Project. The Distance to the Local Group Galaxy WLM from Cepheid Variables discovered in a Wide-Field Imaging Survey

open access: yes, 2007
We have conducted an extensive wide-field imaging survey for Cepheid variables in the Local Group irregular galaxy WLM. From data obtained on 101 nights, we have discovered 60 Cepheids which include 14 of the 15 Cepheid variables previously detected by ...

Cervical Cancer Elimination in Australia and the Asia Pacific: Progress and Barriers

open access: yesMedical Journal of Australia, Volume 224, Issue 4, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Australia has been at the forefront of innovation and implementation of cervical cancer control and is predicted to eliminate cervical cancer by 2035, the first country to achieve elimination using active measures. This is a result of Australia being an early adopter of universal human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination and early transition to a

V659 Cen: System Members Updated

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal
V659 Cen is a classical Cepheid which is part of a multiple system. Previous observations have shown that a hot companion dominates an ultraviolet spectrum and a cooler main-sequence star dominates an XMM-Newton spectrum. The Hubble Space Telescope Space

Head‐to‐head comparison of TKI and CPI first‐line treatment strategies in advanced renal cell carcinoma—Real‐world data from the German research platform CARAT

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, Volume 158, Issue 6, Page 1690-1702, 15 March 2026.
What's new? The current standard of care for locally advanced or metastatic renal cell carcinoma (aRCC) is either a combination of two immune checkpoint inhibitors (CPI) or a CPI plus a tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI). Here, the authors simulate a head‐to‐head trial comparing the real‐world effectiveness of these combination therapies with TKI ...
