First detection of CO emission from Cepheid Variable stars

open access: yes, 2023
We present IRAM 30~m Telescope observations of the CO(1-0) and CO(2-1) emission lines in a sample of eight Cepheid variable stars. The CO(1-0) line is detected in four of the eight targets at a signal-to-noise of $>$3.5 confirming the presence of CO in Cepheid atmospheres.

Access to diagnosis using liquid biopsy (ADLiB): Identifying lymphoma in a tuberculosis‐endemic setting

open access: yesHemaSphere, Volume 10, Issue 6, June 2026.
Abstract In HIV‐ and tuberculosis (TB)‐endemic regions, lymphoma diagnosis is often delayed because symptoms can overlap with TB, and access to biopsy and specialized pathology is limited. To address this, we developed and internally evaluated the Access to Diagnosis using Liquid Biopsy (ADLiB) platform—a plasma cell‐free DNA (cfDNA)‐based approach ...

First Detection of Radio Emission Associated with a Classical Cepheid

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal, 2023
We report the detection of 15 GHz radio continuum emission associated with the classical Cepheid variable star δ Cephei ( δ Cep) based on observations with the Karl G. Jansky Very Large Array.

The MACHO Project LMC Variable Star Inventory: Classical Cepheids, AGB Variables, and the Nine Million Star Color-Magnitude Diagram [PDF]

open access: yesSymposium - International Astronomical Union, 1999
We measure the ratio of ~ 5M⊙ blue and red LMC supergiants (representative of classical Cepheids) using the MACHO Project's 9 million star color-magnitude diagram (9M CMD) of the LMC bar. We find b/r = 0.39, which favors the Z=0.008, 5M⊙ theoretical model of Schaerer et al. (1993) over that of Fagatto et al. (1994).

Variable stars in the field of open cluster NGC 6819

open access: yes, 2002
We report on the discovery of 25 variable stars plus 13 suspected variables found in the field of the open cluster NGC 6819. The stars were identified from time-series photometric data obtained on the Isaac Newton Telescope, La Palma, during two ...

Chicago–Carnegie Hubble Program: A Multiwavelength Search for the Effects of Metallicity on the Cepheid Distance Scale. II. Theoretical Models and Synthetic Spectra

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
This is the second of two papers exploring the effects of metallicity on the multiwavelength properties of Cepheids in terms of their multiwavelength period–luminosity (PL) relations, impacting their use as extragalactic distance indicators and ...

Baseline Data on Viral Suppression, Treatment Adherence and Mental Health in Peripartum Girls and Young Women With HIV in Zimbabwe

open access: yesJournal of the International AIDS Society, Volume 29, Issue S1, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Introduction Peripartum adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) with HIV have lower viral suppression compared to older women. But the recently introduced dolutegravir‐based regimens and psychosocial peer motivation may improve viral control.

Convection in the interior of Cepheid variable stars

open access: yes
Visualization of vorticity magnitude of a 8 solar mass Cepheid variable star. This 2D simulation in a spherical shell has been performed with the MUltidimensional Stellar Implicit Code (MUSIC). The zero point in vorticity is in white. This poster won a Gallery of Fluid motion award at the APS/DFD 2025 conference. This work was performed under the ...

Incidence of HIV and HCV Among People Who Inject Drugs in Montreal, Canada: Data From the HEPCO Longitudinal Cohort Study, 2011–2025

open access: yesJournal of Viral Hepatitis, Volume 33, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Ongoing monitoring of hepatitis C virus (HCV) and HIV incidence among people who inject drugs (PWID) is important for epidemic control and assessing progress towards disease elimination. We estimated trends in HIV and HCV infection incidence in a community‐based cohort of PWID in Montreal, Canada.
