Ecology of Oobius rudnevi, egg parasitoid of Cerambyx cerdo and Cerambyx welensii in oak forests
Entomologia Experimentalis et Applicata, 2021AbstractOobius rudnevi (Nowicki) (Hymenoptera: Encyrtidae) is a gregarious egg parasitoid of Cerambyx cerdo L. and Cerambyx welensii (Küster) (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae), two well‐known large oak‐living saproxylic beetles with different pest/legal status: whereas C. cerdo is a protected species, C. welensii is considered an emerging pest.

AbstractThree large saproxylic cerambycids with different pest/legal status co-occur in the Iberian oak woodlands,Cerambyx welensii(Cw),Cerambyx cerdo(Cc) andPrinobius myardi(Pm): Cw is an emerging pest, Cc is a protected but sometimes harmful species and Pm is a secondary/minor pest.

Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology Part A: Physiology, 1983
Abstract 1. 1. The effect of temperature, peanut oil and juvenile hormone (JH) on the protocerebral neurosecretory cells (NSC) of the larval Cerambyx cerdo was investigated. 2. 2. Winter larvae (body wt 3.5–4.0g), previously acclimated to a temperature of 10°C (control) and then to that of 23°C were divided into three experimental groups ...

Radio-Tracking Suggests High Dispersal Ability of the Great Capricorn Beetle (Cerambyx cerdo)
Journal of Insect Behavior, 2018Dispersal ability is among the key factors affecting the survival of species in today’s fragmented landscapes. One of the most straightforward methods to provide direct measures of animal dispersal is telemetry. Despite its merits, this method has rarely been used for saproxylic beetles.

Ten polymorphic microsatellite loci, developed using next-generation sequencing technology, are described for the Great Capricorn beetle, Cerambyx cerdo; an endangered and internationally protected European longicorn. Based on 30 individuals from South-East Czech Republic, the number of alleles per locus ranged from 4 to 8, and the observed and ...

Habitat fragmentation is one of the main threats to biodiversity. Reintroductions or translocations may mitigate its effects by allowing species with limited dispersal ability to exploit otherwise inaccessible habitat patches. Despite the fact that reintroductions are among the most effective conservation measures, they are rarely used for ...

Midgut proteinase activities of cerambyx cerdo (coleoptera, cerambycidae) larvae
2001Different proteolytic activities using natural and synthetic substrates were analyzed in the midgut of Cerambyx cerdo larvae. Significant leucyl-aminopeptidase and elastase-like activities, as well as some trypsin-like activities were detected.

AbstractCerambyx cerdo(Cc) is a protected saproxylic beetle in Europe, although it is increasingly reported as an oak ‘pest’. Cc ecological features are relatively well known, but, its reproductive biology is still poorly understood. Hence, we investigated the reproductive traits of Cc under laboratory conditions. In females, body length was 44.1 ± 0.9
