Epoxy–nanocomposites with ceramic reinforcement for electrical insulation
Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 2011AbstractCeramic nanoparticles, that is, SiO2, TiO2, and Al2O3nanoparticles, with increasingly high thermal conductivity (λ), represent good candidates for improving the thermophysical properties of epoxy resins. In this study, the influence of filler addition on the thermal, mechanical, and dielectric properties were investigated by means of ...

Drone-Based Ceramic Insulators Condition Monitoring
IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, 2021This article develops a prototype quadcopter drone-based system for inspection of power-line ceramic insulators. The drone uses its onboard cameras and Raspberry Pi single-board computer to monitor the health condition of outdoor ceramic insulators. The main contribution of this article is the development of a complete quadcopter-based system prototype

Punchthrough of ceramic insulators
Annual Conference on Electrical Insulation and Dielectric Phenomena, 2002A study of punchthrough breakdown in an alumina insulator is presented. The alumina cylinder, containing electrodes at 300 kV in a vacuum of 10/sup -6/ torr, experienced permanent puncture damage from a breakdown process that was unexpected because the fields from the electrodes were well below the breakdown strength of the ceramic.

Effects of Flash Sintering Parameters on Insulation Performance of Ceramic Insulator
2020 IEEE International Conference on High Voltage Engineering and Application (ICHVE), 2020Ceramic outdoor insulators play an important role in electrical insulation and mechanical support because of the good chemical and thermal stability, which have been widely used in both transmission and distribution power system. However, the brittleness and surface discharge of ceramic material greatly limit the application of ceramic insulators ...

Ceramic Electrical Insulating Materials
Journal of the American Ceramic Society, 1958During the past 30 years, the principal ceramic insulating materials have been the electrical porcelains, the steatites, and the high alumina bodies. The compositions, the structures, and the properties of these materials are discussed. Other porcelains and insulating compositions, containing as their principal crystalline phases mullite, zircon ...
