Degradation of Ceramic Materials in Thermotechnical Plants

open access: greenThe Annals of “Dunarea de Jos” University of Galati. Fascicle IX, Metallurgy and Materials Science, 2018
It is demonstrated that the degradation of materials is currently a poorly studied scientific area. We propose a definition of degradation and a classification of the types of degradation. It is investigated, using a technical model, the destructive interactions between the ceramic materials of the tundish refractory lining, in a continuous steel ...

Effect of TiN Addition on the Low Temperature Degradation of Ceramic Tool Materials 3Y-TZP

open access: hybridKey Engineering Materials, 2006
Ceramic tool materials, 3Y-TZP added by TiN particles, were fabricated through hot-pressing techniques. The effects of TiN on their low-temperature degradation at 220# in air were investigated. It is shown that TiN can improve the stability of t-ZrO2 and inhibit the transformation from tetragonal to monoclinic phase, and that the content of TiN affects

Thermal/chemical degradation of ceramic candle filter materials. Final report, September 1988--October 1994 [PDF]

open access: green, 1995
High-temperature ceramic candle filters are being developed for use in advanced power generation systems such as the Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle (IGCC), Pressurized Fluidized-Bed Combustor (PFBC), and Direct Coal-Fired Turbine (DCFT). The direct firing of coal produces particulate matter which must be removed to meet both environmental and ...

Study of paper sludge ageing for their use in fired clay bricks formulation : influence of the degradation products on the ceramic characteristics of the materials

open access: green, 2021
