Thermal Testing of Corundum Ceramic Plates

Russian Journal of Nondestructive Testing, 2023
A review of the methods of production of corundum ceramics with specified characteristics is carried out and possible causes of hidden defects are indicated. Ceramic samples for research were obtained by the method of slip casting and their physical properties were determined.

A Glass‐Ceramic Plate for Mammography

Journal of the American Ceramic Society, 2007
We developed translucent glass‐ceramic image plates for digital mammography. The glass ceramics are based on europium‐doped fluorozirconate glasses, which were additionally doped with chlorine to initiate the nucleation of barium chloride nanoparticles therein.

Adhesion of Ceramic Plates with Geopolymer

Materials Science Forum, 2010
The detachment of ceramic tiles from buildings is a problem that still persists in several modern constructions. Although there are several specific techniques for the prevention of tiles from detaching this issue still requires in-depth research in order to be fully solved.

Wear and failure of ceramic cutting plates

Russian Engineering Research, 2010
The wear and failure of ceramic cutting plates depend on the properties and structure of the ceramics, the tool geometry, and the operational loads. Under their action, specific defects accumulate in the ceramic and serve as points of crack nucleation. Their development in the ceramic may lead to wear and failure of the ceramic cutting plates.

Plate impact response of ceramics and glasses

Journal of Applied Physics, 1994
Soft-recovery plate impact experiments have been conducted to study the evolution of damage in polycrystalline Al2O3 samples. Examination of the recovered samples by means of scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy has revealed that microcracking occurs along grain boundaries; the cracks appear to emanate from grain-boundary ...

Piezoelectromagnetic waves in a ceramic plate

IEEE Transactions on Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics and Frequency Control, 2004
The propagation of shear horizontal (SH) waves in an infinite plate of polarized ceramics is studied from the three-dimensional equations of linear piezoelectro-magnetism with full electromagnetic coupling. Exact solutions are obtained for plates with electroded and unelectroded surfaces.

Vibrations of porous piezoelectric ceramic plates

Journal of Sound and Vibration, 2009
The basic constitutive equations and equations of motion are derived for anisotropic porous piezoelectric materials by making use of variational principle. These equations are first derived for three-dimensional case and then reduced to the two-dimensional case by expanding mechanical displacement and electric potential as power series. The results are

Stress wave attenuation in ceramic plates

Journal of Applied Physics, 2008
Studies on planar longitudinal stress wave attenuation in thin ceramic plates are presented using a wave tracking algorithm. The results are also experimentally validated. Ceramic plates consist of grains and grain boundaries. Elastic modulus and density of the grain boundaries are less than those of the grains. When the planar longitudinal stress wave

Ion-plated metal/ceramic interfaces

Vacuum, 1986
Abstract Elemental Cu and Ti films have been deposited onto magnesia-alumina-silica ceramic substrates with a plasma-aided physical vapour deposition (ion-plating) process. This paper presents results of an investigation on how the structure and chemistry of the metal/ceramic interface is modified as a function of the deposition process parameters (e.
