Ultrastructure of the Schistosoma mansoni cercaria

Micron, 2002
The cercaria of the schistosome parasite is a short-lived, free-swimming larval stage that is infective for the mammalian, definitive host. This atlas describes the ultrastructure of the cells that comprise the cercaria of Schistosoma mansoni, a leading causative agent of human schistosomiasis.

Transport of Schistosoma japonicum cercariae and the feasibility of niclosamide for cercariae control

Parasitology International, 2005
Field experiments were conducted in southwestern China to estimate the distances over which cercariae of Schistosoma japonicum are transported and remain infective in village irrigation ditches and to determine the feasibility of interrupting this transport using niclosamide, the molluscicide commonly used for snail control in this environment.

Cercaria ofSchistosoma

Cercaria of the genus Schistosoma represents a free-swimming developmental stage that to complete its life cycle must contact the mammalian skin. Thereafter, it penetrates the skin and transforms into an intravertebrate stage - the schistosomulum. Therefore, the cercaria represents an infective stage, a link between the intermediate (snail) and the ...

Studies on the Formation and Function of Mucoid Glands in Cercariae: Opisthorchoid Cercariae

The Journal of Parasitology, 1953
In the present study four species of opisthorchoid cercariae are included: the cercariae of Euryhelmis monorchis Ameel, 1938 (Heterophyinae), Caecincola parvulus Marshall and Gilbert, 1905 (Cryptogoniminae), and two as yet undescribed species. Euryhelmis monorchis was obtained from Pomatiopsis lapidaria: Caecincola parvulus from Amnicola (Marstonia ...
