No Simple Fluke: Schistosomiasis as an Emerging Regulator of Haematopoiesis
ABSTRACT Schistosomiasis, or bilharzia, is a highly prevalent water‐borne helminth infection that accounts for an estimated 1.5–1.7 billion disability‐adjusted life years lost annually. Pathology driven by adult worms and eggs is accompanied by robust immunomodulation in the human host. Protective responses may promote worm elimination, limit bystander

Competent Non‐Native Alternative Host Reduces Infection Success in a Generalist Parasite
In this study, we experimentally assessed how the addition of a non‐native alternative host affects the infection success of the larval generalist trematode, Diplostomum pseudospathaceum, in fish intermediate hosts. Our results demonstrate that the presence of alternative hosts, especially the non‐native ones, can reduce parasite transmission through ...

All the larger specimens I submitted to microscopic examination for possible infection with cercariae.
