Protease activity in schistosome cercariae

Experimental Parasitology, 1959
Abstract It has been shown that the cercariae of Schistosomatium douthitti and Schistosoma mansoni do not possess a true collagenase as determined by incubation of living cercariae and cercarial homogenates with human gingival tissue. These studies confirmed the work of others in showing that these cercariae possess potent proteases as indicated ...

Transport of Schistosoma japonicum cercariae and the feasibility of niclosamide for cercariae control

Parasitology International, 2005
Field experiments were conducted in southwestern China to estimate the distances over which cercariae of Schistosoma japonicum are transported and remain infective in village irrigation ditches and to determine the feasibility of interrupting this transport using niclosamide, the molluscicide commonly used for snail control in this environment.

Cercaria pseudoburti n. sp., a Strigeid Cercaria from Western Massachusetts

The Journal of Parasitology, 1939
A survey of many ponds in western Massachusetts has revealed a high percentage of infection with larval trematodes. Collections are being made in some of these ponds every month to study the ecology of the cercarial fauna. Over 3,000 snails have been taken from a small pond in South Amherst, only one of which has been infected with a small species of ...
