Reproductive characteristics of wild Sanje mangabeys (Cercocebus sanjei)
American Journal of Primatology, 2014An accurate description of reproductive characteristics and ovarian endocrinology is necessary to address questions about the reproductive strategies and life history of a species and for meaningful, cross species analyses. Here we used analysis of fecal estradiol (fE) and behavioral observations to determine for the first time the reproductive ...

Infant carrying by adult male mangabeys (Cercocebus atys)
American Journal of Primatology, 1984AbstractSixty‐five interactions where an adult male carried an infant in the proximity of a second male were observed during a 19‐mo period in a captive sooty mangabey (Cercocebus atys) social group. The behavior was distributed nonrandomly in both the adult male and infant classes.

Functional Implications of Allogrooming in Cercocebus torquatus
International Journal of Primatology, 2000We examined the hygienic functional hypothesis of allogrooming in two captive groups (N = 9 and N = 8) of white-crowned mangabeys (Cercocebus torquatus lunulatus) by analyzing the corporeal distribution of allogrooming solicitations according to the variable degree of accessibility of the various body sites. We used focal-animal sampling and continuous

The Banded Karyotypes of Macaca fuscata Compared with Cercocebus aterrimus
Folia Primatologica, 1983The karyotypes of Macaca fuscata and Cercocebus aterrrimus are compared after G, C and AgNOR banding. Although it is often assumed that the 42-chromosome monkeys (species of the genera Macaca, Papio, and Cercocebus) are identical at the chromosomal level, a number of clear and consistent differences between the karyotypes of these two taxa are ...
