Activation and Inhibition of Cerebral Prolidase
Journal of Neurochemistry, 1980AbstractPurification of prolidase from calf brain (acetone and [NH4]2SO4 fractionation) separated this enzyme from proteases, leucine aminopeptidase, master dipeptidase, and Gly‐Gly dipeptidase. Prolidase was tested with peptidase and protease inhibitors, used at higher levels (35 times or more) than their ID50 for peptidases and proteases. Bacitracin,

Cerebral glucose and lactate consumption during cerebral activation by physical activity in humans
The FASEB Journal, 2011ABSTRACT At rest, the brain takes up oxygen and carbohydrate at an ~6:1 ratio. Exercise increases systemic lactate availability reducing this to as little as 1.7:1 despite a ~20% increase in cerebral metabolic rate for oxygen (CMR o

Praziquantel (pyrazinoisoquinolone) in active cerebral cysticercosis
Neurosurgery, 1988A prospective open therapeutic study on volunteers with active neurocysticercosis using pyrazinoisoquinolone (Praziquantel) has shown that it is a safe and effective drug. Objective assessment of the effect of treatment was by high resolution sequential computed tomographic scanning. Sixty-six patients received the drug.

Mapping Cerebral Activity With Deoxyglucose
JAMA: The Journal of the American Medical Association, 1980Energy metabolism is closely coupled to functional activity in most tissues, including those of the CNS. Deoxyglucose labeled with carbon 14 can be used to measure rates of glucose use in all anatomic and functional components of the CNS. Using radioautography of serial sections of the brain, pictorial representation of the relative rates of glucose ...

Effects of some cerebrovasodilators on the anti-anoxic activity of indeloxazine hydrochloride [(+/-)-2[(inden-7-yloxy)methyl]morpholine hydrochloride, YM-08054] with cerebral metabolic enhancing activity, were observed in mice. Oral administration of both indeloxazine (10 mg/kg) and each of the cerebral vasodilators, such as nicardipine (10 mg/kg ...

Neuromodulation on Cerebral Activities
2013During a motor task, a causal relation occurs between the motor command generated in the cortex and the proprioceptive feedbacks that go from the activated muscles through the corticospinal pathway. This causal relation is of interest in neurorehabilitation to improve motor function for people with motor difficulties.

Cerebral Metabolism and Visualization of Cerebral Activity
1996The biochemical pathways of energy metabolism in the brain are in most respects the same as those in other tissues, but special conditions peculiar to the central nervous system in vivo limit their full expression. For example, in many tissues the results of in vitro experiments are almost directly transferable to in vivo conditions, and, indeed, in ...
