Pathology of the cerebral artery in Binswanger's disease in the aged: Observation by serial sections and morphometry of the cerebral arteries

Neuropathology, 2004
Binswanger's disease (BD) is not rare in the aged. The aim of the present study was to compare the etiopathogenesis of BD of the aged (aged‐BD) with that of classic‐BD, with the aid of morphometry of the arterial medial thickness and reconstruction of the cerebral medullary arteries using serial sections from five autopsy cases.

Hemodynamic Effects of Innominate Artery Occlusive Disease on Anterior Cerebral Artery

Journal of Neuroimaging, 2002
Stenoses of the innominate artery (IA) may affect flow conditions in the carotid arteries. However, alternating flow in ipsilateral anterior cerebral artery (ACA) due to IA stenosis is extremely rare. A 49‐year‐old woman who was evaluated for symptomatic cerebrovascular disease presented with right latent subclavian and right carotid system steal ...

Cerebral Infarction Secondary to Occlusive Arterial Disease

Radiology, 1958
The classification adopted to describe the pathologic changes that occur in central nervous system infarction is that used by pathologists for identical lesions in all the organs of the body. Bland infarcts are of two forms. By far the more common in the central nervous system is the anemic type, in which the scant secondary hemorrhage is limited to ...

Predictors of Significant Coronary Artery Disease in Patients with Cerebral Artery Atherosclerosis

Cerebrovascular Diseases, 2019
Objective: There are few existing data on the status of coronary artery disease (CAD) in patients with atherosclerosis of the cerebral artery detected by brain imaging studies. We aimed to analyze the predictors of asymptomatic angiographically significant CAD detected by simultaneous cerebral and coronary ...

Carotid artery disease and cerebral ischaemia

2019
Due to the high incidence carotid artery disease and cerebral ischaemia, accurate and timely diagnosis and treatment is required to reduce the significant morbidity and mortality associated with these conditions. This chapter discusses the epidemiology, pathophysiology, clinical presentation, investigation, and treatment of these conditions.

Cerebral arterial compliance in patients with internal carotid artery disease.

European journal of neurology, 2011
A decrease in arterial compliance of the internal carotid artery has been associated with an increased risk in ipsilateral ischaemic stroke. However, so far, no technique has been validated to monitor the compliance of intracerebral arteries (Ca) in patients with carotid artery disease. In this study, we sought to monitor Ca in patients with unilateral

[Hemofiltration in peripheral and cerebral arterial diseases].

Minerva medica, 1985
Whole blood filtration was performed in 33 patients with vascular disease (23 peripheral and 10 cerebral vascular disease) and in 15 controls using a polycarbonate membrane of 11 micron thickness with 5 micron pores. Blood filterability (index of red cell deformability) was reduced in patients with peripheral vascular disease and even more so in ...
