Cordycepin mediates neuroprotection against apoptosis via ERK/CREB signaling activation in Aβ1–42‐induced neuronal cell models

open access: yesIbrain, Volume 11, Issue 1, Page 84-97, Spring 2025.
This study demonstrates cordycepin's neuroprotective effects against Aβ1–42‐induced apoptosis in neuronal cells, mediated through the activation of the extracellular signal‐regulated kinase/cyclic AMP‐responsive element‐binding protein (ERK/CREB) signaling pathway.

Risk of hemorrhagic stroke in warfarin‐treated patients following heart valve replacement: Findings from the MAGPIE study

open access: yesIbrain, EarlyView.
Among 568 mechanical heart valve replacement patients in Bangladesh, hemorrhagic stroke occurred in 4.4% with 52% mortality. Severe pulmonary hypertension increased risk 4.4‐fold, and warfarin therapy ≥104 months nearly doubled the risk, highlighting the need for long‐term risk monitoring in anticoagulated valve patients.

The impact of exercise on cognitive function and brain health across the lifespan: A systematic review

open access: yesIbrain, EarlyView.
This systematic review of 37 studies demonstrates that aerobic, resistance, and combined exercise enhance cognitive function and brain health across all ages. Exercise promotes neuroplasticity, upregulates brain‐derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), and mitigates age‐related cognitive decline, establishing ...

Evaluating predictive values of umbilical cord arterial lactate for adverse newborn outcomes among term‐births in northern Uganda: A cross sectional analytical study

open access: yesInternational Journal of Gynecology &Obstetrics, Volume 169, Issue 1, Page 408-420, April 2025.
Abstract Objective Birth asphyxia is one of the leading causes of death for neonates worldwide. Lack of an objective cost effective test to predict poor newborn outcomes at birth affects the ability to respond appropriately. This study determined predictive values of umbilical cord arterial lactate in relation to adverse neonatal outcomes. Methods This
