Middle cerebral artery reconstruction
Surgical Neurology, 1985The authors have conducted an experimental study of the microanatomic features of the middle cerebral artery in unfixed human brains to assess the feasibility of reconstructive procedures within the Sylvian fissure. It was found that reconstructive procedures within the Sylvian fissure such as end-to-end, end-to-side, side-to-side, and grafting ...

Posttraumatic Cerebral Arterial Spasm
Journal of Neurotrauma, 1995Posttraumatic cerebral arterial spasm (vasospasm) has been demonstrated in the past by angiography, and recently by transcranial Doppler ultrasonography. Posttraumatic vasospasm is a delayed complication that involves the large basal intracranial arteries (e.g., internal carotid, middle cerebral, basilar) and occurs in 25-40% of head trauma patient ...

Cerebral Artery Bypass Surgery
AJN, American Journal of Nursing, 1980commonly caused by atherosclerosis of the cerebral arteries(l,2). Atherosclerosis, a form of arteriosclerosis, is an accumulation of lipid plaques in the intima of an artery. These plaques interrupt blood flow by narrowing the vessels and, in severe cases, totally occlude the artery.

Surgical and Radiologic Anatomy, 2020
We would like to present a case with fetal posterior cerebral artery duplication and anterior cerebral artery trifurcation, which we detected using magnetic resonance angiography. We believe this is the first case defined in the literature. Embryological explanation of posterior cerebral artery variations is discussed in light of the literature.

Replaced posterior cerebral artery
Surgical and Radiologic AnatomyReplaced posterior cerebral artery (PCA), defined as a hyperplastic anterior choroidal artery (AChA) supplying all branches of the PCA, is an extremely rare anatomical variation. To the best of our knowledge, there are only a few reports of replaced PCA.Herein, we report a case of replaced PCA diagnosed by digital subtraction angiography.A 76-year-old ...

Ruptured middle cerebral artery
Neuroradiology, 1971One case of a ruptured cerebral artery caused by head trauma is reported. The carotid angiogram showed extravasation of contrast medium from the proximal portion of the right middle cerebral artery.

Morphology of cerebral arteries
Pharmacology & Therapeutics, 1995A comparison of the major cerebral arteries between humans and rats shows many similarities, including anomalies in their general organization, the structure of these vessels at the light and electron microscope levels and their morphological changes associated with cerebral vascular diseases.

Middle Cerebral Artery Fenestration
Neurosurgery, 1980Fenestration of the middle cerebral artery (MCA) is an unusual anomaly. We recognized and photographed MCA fenestration during an operation performed to clip an internal carotid artery aneurysm. The incidence of angiographic demonstration of this anomaly has been reported to be 0.26%.

Proximal posterior cerebral artery occlusion simulating middle cerebral artery occlusion
Neurology, 1991We describe 12 cases of acute stroke in which clinical features of proximal posterior cerebral artery occlusion simulated the clinical syndrome of middle cerebral artery occlusion. The majority of patients developed contralateral hemiparesis, homonymous hemianopia, hemispatial neglect, and sensory loss or sensory inattention.

Distal anterior cerebral artery aneurysm
Neurosurgery, 1979abstract The incidence of aneurysms of the distal anterior cerebral artery (DACA) has been reported at 2 to 4%. In this paper we report a series of 12 patients with DACA aneurysms diagnosed at various hospitals in the San Francisco area during the past 10 years.
