The aim of the study was to identify the relationship with intensity of energy metabolism and the level of activation of the cerebral cortex in primary schoolchildren with different temperament characteristic and their possible influence on successful ...

Tachistoscopic presentation of verbal stimuli for assessing cerebral dominance: Reliability data and some practical recommendations. [PDF]
Reliability data point to rather high test-retest correlations (>.65) for VHF data with four- and live-letter words as stimuli, but replicate previous findings that the first test score correlates poorly with later test scores.

Modifying Glucose Metabolism Reverses Memory Defects of Alzheimer's Disease Model at Late Stages
Using spatial transcriptomics, we show that ferul enanthate (SL‐ZF‐01) reverses episodic‐like memory deficits in aged, but not young, Alzheimer’s disease (AD) mice. SL restores glucose metabolism and Glucose Transporter 1/3 expression via an ‘Aging‐AD‐Rescue’ pattern, rescuing deficits seen in aged AD mice.

Hemispheric speech lateralisation in the developing brain is related to motor praxis ability
Commonly displayed functional asymmetries such as hand dominance and hemispheric speech lateralisation are well researched in adults. However there is debate about when such functions become lateralised in the typically developing brain.

Design principles of columnar organization in visual cortex [PDF]
Visual space is represented by cortical cells in an orderly manner. Only little variation in the cell behavior is found with changing depth below the cortical surface, that is, all cells in a column with axis perpendicular to the cortical plane have ...

NDST3‐Induced Epigenetic Reprogramming Reverses Neurodegeneration in Parkinson's Disease
NDST3‐mediated epigenetic reprogramming revitalizes neuronal circuits in the substantia nigra and striatum to halt dopaminergic neuron degeneration and restore motor function in Parkinson's disease models. This strategy promotes neuronal maintenance and functional recovery, highlighting NDST3's therapeutic potential in neurodegenerative disorders ...

Particulate matter ≤2.5 µm (PM2.5) elevates risks of neurological and chronic metabolic diseases, but the underlying mechanisms linking PM2.5‐induced central nervous system (CNS) injury to metabolic dysfunction remain unclear. Hypothalamic pro‐opiomelanocortin‐expressing (POMC+) neurons regulate systemic metabolic homeostasis, and tripartite motif ...

When does right functional hemispheric lateralization arise? Evidence from preterm infants [PDF]
In recent years, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has allowed researchers to individuate an earlier morphological development of the right hemisphere compared to the left hemisphere before birth.
