Acute Kidney Injury After Mechanical Thrombectomy for Stroke in Patients With Pre‐Existing Renal Impairment

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a common but often underrecognized complication in ischemic stroke patients undergoing mechanical thrombectomy, particularly among those with pre‐existing renal impairment. This study evaluated the incidence, risk factors, and clinical impact of AKI in this high‐risk population.

Cerebral hemodynamics in ocular hypertension

open access: yesGraefe's Archive for Clinical and Experimental Ophthalmology, 2004
To evaluate the cerebral blood flow velocity in patients with ocular hypertension.Twenty-four ocular hypertensive patients and 24 age- and sex-matched healthy volunteers were recruited in a prospective comparative study. All subjects had normal findings on full-threshold visual field tests and clinically normal optic nerves.

Systemic Extracerebral Atherosclerotic Burden and Dementia Risk After Incident Stroke

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Stroke survivors are at increased risk of dementia, but clinically accessible markers of risk heterogeneity remain limited. Previous studies have largely examined atherosclerotic disease in individual vascular beds rather than the overall burden of systemic extracerebral atherosclerosis.

Advanced Materials for Biologics Delivery to Brain Tumors

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Material innovation is central to unlocking the therapeutic potential of biologics against many central nervous system diseases, including brain cancer. By engineering carriers with controlled transport, targeting, and release properties, advanced materials can overcome the blood–brain barrier and tumor microenvironment, improving the delivery of ...

Multi-Modal Assessment of Cerebral Hemodynamics in Resuscitated Out-of-Hospital Cardiac Arrest Patients: A Case-Series

open access: yesLife
We assessed the feasibility of concurrent monitoring of cerebral hemodynamics in adult, comatose out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) patients admitted to the National University Heart Centre Singapore from October 2021 to August 2023.

Cross‐Scale Hierarchical Targeted Delivery System Based on Small‐Scale Magnetic Robots

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This article reviews a cross‐scale hierarchical targeted delivery system that integrates magnetic continuum robots and magnetic microrobots. By combining rapid long‐range navigation with precise microscale targeting, the system overcomes key limitations of single‐scale approaches.

Cerebral Hemodynamics

open access: yes
Cerebral hemodynamics encompasses the regulation of blood flow within the brain to sustain oxygen and nutrient delivery while maintaining intracranial homeostasis. This chapter offers a comprehensive review of the anatomical structures and physiological mechanisms involved, including the arterial and venous systems, the protective role of the blood ...
