Cerebral hemorrhage and apoE

Journal of Neurology, 1999
The epsilon4 allele of apolipoprotein E (apoE) is found more commonly among patients with Alzheimer's disease (AD) than in the normal population. ApoE is associated with brain amyloid, a component of cerebral amyloid angiopathy (CAA), which is both a pathological feature of AD and a frequent cause of lobar intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH).

Cerebral Hemorrhage in Leukemia

Archives of Neurology, 1960
Although hemorrhage of the brain is a well-known potential complication in every case of leukemia, there are few detailed reports in the literature that deal with the incidence of this complication, and the controversy over the basic cause of such hemorrhage remains unsettled. Is it primarily a perivascular infiltration of the brain substance, or is it

PERINATAL CEREBRAL INTRAVENTRICULAR HEMORRHAGE

Obstetrical & Gynecological Survey, 1972
Intraventricular hemorrhage was found in 148 instances among 714 consecutive autopsies on stillborn and newborn infants. Increased incidence among the poor and non-Caucasian infants and among infants with congenital pneumonia was related to the higher incidence of premature births in these groups.

Coital cerebral hemorrhage

Neurology, 1993
Sudden headache, confusion, and hemiparesis followed within minutes of late-morning sexual intercourse in a 39-year-old man. Imaging studies revealed hemorrhage into a vascular malformation. Sexual intercourse and circadian rhythm independently elevate blood pressure, and their concurrence may predispose to cerebral hemorrhage in the presence of a ...

CEREBRAL ARTERIOGRAPHY IN SUBARACHNOID HEMORRHAGE

Journal of the American Medical Association, 1948
Despite the fact that the clinical diagnosis of spontaneous subarachnoid hemorrhage is comparatively easy to make and the pathology of the syndrome is fairly well understood, there still are enough gaps in our knowledge to justify further investigation of the subject.

Cerebral vasospasm in subarachnoid hemorrhage

Current Treatment Options in Neurology, 2005
The treatment of vasospasm after subarachnoid hemorrhage remains a formidable challenge. The prompt recognition of this complication is essential to prevent ischemic damage. Initial orders should include adequate fluid and sodium supplementation to avoid volume depletion. Prophylactic hypervolemia is not effective in reducing the incidence of vasospasm

Hemorrhagic Complications of Cerebral Arteritis

Archives of Neurology, 1977
Intracranial hemorrhage occurred in two patients with cerebral arteritis. One patient with methamphetamine-induced necrotizing angitis had a spontaneous subarachnoid hemorrhage without an aneurysm. A second patient with ulcerative colitis developed an intracerebral hematoma. Carotid angiography demonstrated a diffuse arteritis in each patient.
