Ethmoid CSF Cerebrospinal Fluid Leak

2021
Endoscopic sinus surgery (ESS) is an excellent option for addressing medically recalcitrant sinus disease. The combination of stereotactic image-guided navigation and advances in surgical techniques have transformed the procedure, allowing surgeons to perform more thorough dissection while minimizing risks.

Attenuation values of the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF)

Neuroradiology, 1978
The attenuation value of CSF, obtained by lumbar puncture, was determined with computed tomography in 25 patients. Measurement of the protein content in the same samples showed no correlation with the attenuation value. It is concluded that in the normal range of protein concentrations, the effect on the attenuation is insignificant and that the ...

Cerebrospinal Fluid (CSF) Scintigraphy

2020
Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) scintigraphy (also referred to as “cisternogram”) is a traditional clinical nuclear medicine neuroimaging modality, mainly used to help diagnose normal pressure hydrocephalus (NPH), to detect CSF leaks, and to evaluate CSF shunt patency (Ali et al., Clin Nucl Med 23(3):52–155, 1998; Chiewvit et al., World J Nucl Med 13(2):75 ...

Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) findings in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis

Journal of Neurology, 1984
The cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) was examined in 90 amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) patients and in 50 age-matched normal controls. Total protein concentration was significantly higher in ALS patients than in normal controls. CSF IgG and albumin, quantitatively determined by single radial immunodiffusion, were significantly increased in ALS.

Factors affecting the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) bicarbonate concentration

Experientia, 1966

Cerebrospinal Fluid (CSF) TRAP: A Method to Improve CSF Laboratory Efficiency

American Journal of Clinical Pathology, 1988
Establishment of a procedure termed cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) TRAP ("Transport and Rapid Accessioning for Additional Procedures") allows clinicians to appropriately store, at -75 degrees C, and rapidly access CSF specimens. The CSF TRAP enhances patient care by decreasing the need for repeat lumbar punctures and providing reserve fluid for the ...

Delayed retroauricular cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) collection in cochlear implantation

Cochlear Implants International, 2011
In the literature, this is the first description of a delayed retroauricular cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) collection in a child after 18 months of cochlear implantation. During surgical revision, anomalous thinning of the dura and leakage of CSF was found beneath the receiver, requiring local sealing and repositioning. Exposure of the dura is a procedure

Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) ex vacuo.

Radiologia clinica, 1976
CSF ex vacuo is a proposed designation for abnormal collections of CSF replacing brain tissue which is absent or has disappeared as a result of maldevelopment, injury, infection, vascular disturbances, brain atrophy, etc. In the literature, designations such as arachnoidal, leptomeningeal and porencepalic cyst, and hydrocephalus ex vacuo, are commonly ...

Ventricular System: Cerebrospinal Fluid (CSF)—Barriers

2019
The ventricular system (i.e., lateral ventricles, third ventricle, and fourth ventricle) is composed of hollow cavities which are located in the telencephalon, diencephalon, and mesencephalon and extend via the pons to the medulla. They harbor the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) which is produced by the choroid plexuses and fulfills nutritive and protective ...
