The prognostic value of clinical frailty scale and outcomes in older patients undergoing left ventricular assist device implantation

open access: yesAGING MEDICINE, Volume 5, Issue 4, Page 257-263, December 2022., 2022
The main finding in our study is that Clinical Frailty Scale‐defined frailty status was predictive of 1‐year post‐interventional mortality after left ventricular assist device implantation. Abstract Objectives Heart failure impacts patients’ functional capabilities, ultimately leading to frailty.

CCA repair or ECA ligation—Which middle cerebral artery occlusion is better in the reperfusion mouse model?

open access: yesIbrain, 2023
A reliable animal model is essential for ischemic stroke research. The implications of the external carotid artery (ECA) transection or common carotid artery (CCA) ligation have been described.

A pilot randomized controlled trial of WeiNaoKang (SaiLuoTong) in treating vascular dementia

open access: yesAGING MEDICINE, Volume 5, Issue 4, Page 246-256, December 2022., 2022
A 16‐week randomized double‐blind, placebo‐controlled trial for vascular dementia was carried out with WeiNaoKang (or SaiLuoTong). There were significant differences in improvement in cognitive function and activities of daily living, favouring the treatment group.

New device multisegment Mechanical Thrombectomy System for endovascular treatment in acute ischaemic stroke: study protocol for a prospective, multicentre, randomised controlled trial

open access: yesBMJ Open, 2022
Introduction Endovascular treatment is the standard of care for acute large vessel occlusion (LVO) in the anterior circulation. However, successful complete recanalisation is considerably difficult when the vessels are severely tortuous. At the bend, the

FAN-Net: Fourier-Based Adaptive Normalization For Cross-Domain Stroke Lesion Segmentation [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE ICASSP 2023, 2023
Since stroke is the main cause of various cerebrovascular diseases, deep learning-based stroke lesion segmentation on magnetic resonance (MR) images has attracted considerable attention. However, the existing methods often neglect the domain shift among MR images collected from different sites, which has limited performance improvement. To address this

Laparoscopic versus open resection for stage II/III rectal cancer in obese patients: A multicenter propensity score‐based analysis of short‐ and long‐term outcomes

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, Volume 7, Issue 1, Page 71-80, January 2023., 2023
Kaplan‐Meier plot for relapse‐free survival (RFS) after propensity score (PS) matching. Abstract Aim Whether a laparoscopic procedure can contribute to the improvement of clinical outcomes in obese patients with stage II/III rectal cancer compared to an open procedure remains unclear.

A phase II study of neoadjuvant capecitabine, oxaliplatin, and irinotecan (XELOXIRI) in patients with locally advanced rectal cancer

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, Volume 7, Issue 1, Page 81-90, January 2023., 2023
XELOXIRI neoadjuvant chemotherapy appears to be feasible and efficacious for patients with LARC. Although neoadjuvant XELOXIRI alone did not yield our expected pCR rate, the local recurrence rate, 3‐year DFS and measures of safety met current standards.

Thyroid Diseases and Cerebrovascular Disease [PDF]

open access: yesStroke, 2005
Background and Purpose—Acute cerebral ischemia has been described in different diseases of the thyroid gland, and not only as a result of thyrotoxic atrial fibrillation and cardioembolic stroke. The purpose of this review is to summarize the studies on the relationship between thyroid diseases and cerebrovascular diseases, discussing the main findings ...

Ceramide in cerebrovascular diseases

open access: yesFrontiers in Cellular Neuroscience, 2023
Ceramide, a bioactive sphingolipid, serves as an important second messenger in cell signal transduction. Under stressful conditions, it can be generated from de novo synthesis, sphingomyelin hydrolysis, and/or the salvage pathway. The brain is rich in lipids, and abnormal lipid levels are associated with a variety of brain disorders.

Clinical outcomes of single incision laparoscopic surgery for colorectal cancer: A propensity score‐matched analysis between well‐experienced and novice surgeons

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, Volume 7, Issue 1, Page 102-109, January 2023., 2023
SILS is a technically challenging procedure for novice surgeons. We evaluate the clinical outcomes of SILS for colorectal cancer performed by novice surgeons. SILS was safely performed by novice surgeons under the guidance of well‐experienced surgeons, and could provide satisfactory oncological outcomes. Abstract Background Single incision laparoscopic
