Thermally induced changes in the ceria zirconia system

Thermochimica Acta, 1988
Abstract The redox behaviour of ceria zirconia alloy (50 mol %) has been investigated by thermoanalytical methods under controlled atmospheres (air, oxygen and argon with 5% hydrogen). The supposed non-stoichiometry (CeOx-ZrO2, x being a function of oxygen pressure and temperature) is proved by weight changes which are accompanied by volume ...

Nickel-Based Ceria, Zirconia, and Ceria–Zirconia Catalytic Systems for Low-Temperature Carbon Dioxide Reforming of Methane

Energy & Fuels, 2007
Carbon dioxide reforming of methane (CDRM) was studied over a variety of ZrO2-, ceria-doped ZrO2-, and CeO2–ZrO2-supported Ni catalysts. Different techniques were used to prepare supports material having different physicochemical properties, and a correlation was established to show the importance of a robust support material.

Redox Behaviour of a Ceria Zirconia Alloy

1989
The thermal history of ceria zirconia solid solutions greatly influences their structure and properties, particularly their electric conductivity. This in turn depends on a reversible redox reaction here investigated by means of TG, DTA and TDM measurements.

Synthesis of nanostructured ceria, zirconia and ceria–zirconia solid solutions using an ultrahigh surface area carbon material as a template

Nanotechnology, 2004
Nanostructured ceria, zirconia and ceria-zirconia solid solutions have been synthesized via an easy route and characterized by XRD, nitrogen physorption, Raman spectroscopy and TEM. The route involves two steps: the impregnation of ultrahigh surface area carbon materials with nitrate solutions of ceria and/or zirconia and burn-off to remove the carbon ...

Ceria-zirconia Nanocatalysts for Diesel Soot Combustion

SAE Technical Paper Series, 2015
<div class="section abstract"><div class="htmlview paragraph">A set of ceria-zirconia nanocatalysts with different Zr-contents and structural properties was prepared to study the effect of both the Zr-amount and surface-dependent activity towards soot combustion in “loose” and “tight” soot-catalyst contact.

Ceria−Zirconia High-Temperature Desulfurization Sorbents

Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Research, 2005
Ceria and ceria−zirconia desulfurization sorbents containing up to 20 mol % ZrO2 were prepared using a coprecipitation method. XRD analysis indicated the formation of solid solutions of ZrO2 in CeO2. ZrO2 addition produced larger specific surface area, improved sintering resistance, and increased the reducibility of the ceria.

Microstructural investigation of ceria-zirconia solid solution with oxygen vacancies

Journal of Electron Microscopy, 2003
The microstructural change in CeO2-ZrO2 solid solution (Ce2Zr2O7 + x; 0 < or = x < or = 1) with an ordered arrangement of Ce and Zr associated with the absorption/release of oxygen was observed by transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The oxidation of Ce2Zr2O7 was observed in TEM by electron diffraction analysis.

Preparation and characterization of ceria‐zirconia composite for enrichment and identification of phosphopeptides

Journal of Separation Science, 2010
AbstractCeria‐zirconia composites at different molar ratios were synthesized. Several methods were used to characterize these composites, including X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy, surface area and surface acid‐base property detection. A one‐step method for isolation and identification of phosphopeptides from peptide mixture was created using these ...

Flame synthesis of nanocrystalline ceria–zirconia: effect of carrier liquid

Chemical Communications, 2003
Spraying cerium and zirconium precursors dissolved in carboxylic acids into a methane-oxygen flame resulted in well-structured nanocrystals of ceria-zirconia mixed oxides with high temperature stability and surface area.

Nanoscale Heterogeneity in Ceria Zirconia with Low-Temperature Redox Properties

The Journal of Physical Chemistry B, 2006
We have investigated nanoscale compositional and structural variations in Ce(0.5)Zr(0.5)O(2) samples with different redox properties. Different samples were prepared using a spray freezing technique, and the synthesis conditions were varied to yield materials with reduction temperatures in the range of 400-750 degrees C.
