The response of a tropical estuarine gastropod, Cerithidea cingulata (Gmelin), to different types of substrata

Hydrobiologia, 1981
The behavioural reaction of a tropical estuarine gastropod, Cerithidea cingulata (Gmelin), to different types of substrata was investigated by subjecting the snails to different mixtures of natural sediment. In addition the organic matter in the sediments was estimated, and an attempt has also been made to relate these results to the distribution of ...

Influence of temperature on copper accumulation and depuration in a tropical cerithiid Cerithidea (cerithideopsilla) cingulata (Geelin 1790)

Water, Air, and Soil Pollution, 1988
The effect of temperature on Cu accumulation and depuration in the tissues of Cerithidea cingulata was studied at 18 °C, 28 °C, and 38 °C. The LC50 value for 5 days was observed to be high at ambient temperature (28 °C) that at the high temperature (38 °C). The LC50 for 10 days at the low temperature (18 °C) was higher than at the ambient (28 °C). When

Gonadal maturation, fecundity, spawning, and timing of reproduction in the mud snail,Cerithidea cingulata, a pest in milkfish ponds in the Philippines

open access: yesInvertebrate Reproduction & Development, 2001
Summary Gonadal maturation, spawning, fecundity and timing of reproduction of the snail Cerithidea cingulata in a brackish water pond in Molo, Iloilo, Philippines, are described. Snails 4–41 mm in shell length were sampled monthly from May 1997 to May 1998; 25% were 30 mm. The sexes are separate and could first be distinguished at 15 mm.

Temporal variations in the infection of a population of Cerithidea cingulata by larval trematodes in Kuwait Bay

Journal of Helminthology, 2000
Abstract The prosobranch gastropod Cerithidea cingulata (Gastropoda: Potamididae) in Kuwait Bay was examined for larval trematode infections over a 17-month period. A total of 2537 snails were examined and 1265 (49.9%) found to be infected with one or more species of ...

Molecular identification ofAustrobilharziaspecies parasitizingCerithidea cingulata(Gastropoda: Potamididae) from Kuwait Bay

Journal of Helminthology, 2011
AbstractAvian schistosomes belonging to the genusAustrobilharzia(Digenea: Schistosomatidae) are among the causative agents of cercarial dermatitis in humans. In this paper, ribosomal and mitochondrial DNA sequences were used to study schistosome cercariae from Kuwait Bay that have been identified morphologically asAustrobilharziasp. Sequence comparison

End products of anaerobic metabolism in Cerithidea (Cerithideopsilla) cingulata (Gmelin 1790) and Cerithium coralium Kiener 1841

Canadian Journal of Zoology, 1983
Changes in the utilisation of glycogen and aspartic acid and accumulation of end products such as succinic acid, alanine, glutamic acid, and lactic acid were studied in Cerithidea cingulata and Cerithium coralium under anaerobic conditions. A time-bound utilisation of glycogen and aspartic acid was observed with an initial increase in their ...
