Open letter: Brazil at a crossroads—Protecting peatlands is essential for post‐COP30 climate leadership

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, EarlyView.
This Open Letter highlights peatlands as critical yet overlooked ecosystems in Brazil's climate and biodiversity policies. By translating scientific evidence into clear, actionable priorities for policymakers, it supports more accurate climate reporting, effective mitigation strategies, and improved land‐use governance.

Effect of brushwood transposition on the leaf litter arthropod fauna in a cerrado area

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Ciência do Solo, 2013
The results of ecological restoration techniques can be monitored through biological indicators of soil quality such as the leaf litter arthropod fauna.

Persistence and potential of soil organic carbon in nature‐based climate solutions: A review of managed disturbances

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, EarlyView.
Implementing nature‐based climate solutions is important for mitigating climate change, which is a global issue, but requires local adjustments in management practices. Using the association between soil carbon and minerals as a proxy for carbon persistence, we evaluated the effect of different management regimes on soil carbon sequestration and loss ...

TILLER PROPAGATION OF CERRADO GRAMINOIDS: NEW POSSIBILITIES FOR SEEDLING PRODUCTION (SCIENTIFIC NOTE)

open access: yesRevista do Instituto Florestal
The lack of knowledge and ecological challenges in the reproduction of Cerrado graminoids has prevent the commercial production of native seedling, complicating efforts to restore the Cerrado.

Control failure risk, resistance and enzymatic activity of neurotoxic insecticides in Brazilian populations of Leucoptera coffeella (Lepidoptera: Lyonetiidae)

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
Bioassays of 36 Leucoptera coffeella populations revealed resistance to neurotoxic insecticides, control failures of ≤62.9% and enzyme activity variation, with particularly high GST and low AChE levels. Abstract Background Leucoptera coffeella is a key pest of coffee crops in Brazil, causing significant damage by mining coffee leaves.

Climate change‐driven expansion of goosegrass highlights risks to global food production

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
Climate change is expanding the climatic suitability of Eleusine indica into temperate agricultural regions, increasing its overlap with major soybean and maize production areas. These findings highlight a growing global threat to food security and the need for proactive weed management strategies.

Wall‐to‐wall Amazon forest height mapping with Planet NICFI, Aerial LiDAR, and a U‐Net regression model

open access: yesRemote Sensing in Ecology and Conservation, EarlyView.
Tree canopy height is a key indicator of forest biomass and structure, yet accurate mapping across the Amazon remains challenging. Here, we generated a canopy height map of the Amazon forest at ~4.8 m resolution using Planet NICFI imagery and a deep learning U‐Net model trained with airborne LiDAR data.

Physicochemical characterization of seven fruits from the Cerrado [PDF]

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Food Technology
Many species of woody plants from the Cerrado (tropical savanna in central Brazil) can produce fleshy fruits. Still, their chemical composition is primarily unknown, due to the lack of commercial interest or regular access to said species.
