Bioinspired Materials, Designs, and Manufacturing Strategies for Advanced Impact‐Resistant Helmets

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This review explores how bioinspired materials, structures, and manufacturing strategies transform helmet design to achieve enhanced impact resistance. Drawing inspiration from nacre, porcupine quills, beetle exoskeletons, and skull architectures, it highlights advances in auxetic lattices, nanocomposites, and functionally graded foams.

The Downward Trend in Postsecondary Horticulture Program Availability between 1997 and 2017

open access: yesHortTechnology, 2019
For the past several years, many college horticulture programs have experienced a decline in undergraduate enrollment, resulting in the elimination of some degrees. In this study, we compared postsecondary U.S.

An analysis of PGCE models: Key stakeholder perceptions from the secondary phase [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The aim of this research was to explore the two most popular PGCE models now in operation, for which there is little research to-date, from the perspectives of key stakeholders from the secondary phase in two higher education institutions (HEIs) in ...

Efficient and Scalable Radiative Cooling for Photovoltaics Using Solution‐Processable and Solar‐Transparent Mesoporous Nanoparticles

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Graded refractive index (GRI) structures are prepared from the layer‐by‐layer spray coating of the mesoporous SiO2 nanoparticles, showing high solar transparency and thermal emissivity. Under outdoor conditions, after 50 days, the GRI‐coated photovoltaics show on average 6.65 ± 1.48 °C lower than that of the non‐coated references, maintaining 80.9 ± 8 ...

Stabilized Intermediate Phase Via Pseudo‐Halide Anions Toward Highly Efficient and Light‐Soaking Stable Perovskite Solar Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 35, Issue 12, March 18, 2025.
The formate pseudo‐halide anion is strategically introduced at the buried interface to stabilize the intermediate phases formed during perovskite crystallization. The controlled crystallization enhances crystallinity and alleviates tensile strain, eliminating residual PbI2 near the buried interface.

Detecting optimality and extracting solutions in polynomial optimization with the truncated GNS construction

open access: yes, 2017
A basic closed semialgebraic subset of $\mathbb{R}^{n}$ is defined by simultaneous polynomial inequalities $p_{1}\geq 0,\ldots,p_{m}\geq 0$. We consider Lasserre's relaxation hierarchy to solve the problem of minimizing a polynomial over such a set ...
