Mycobacterium bohemicum cervical lymphadenitis
The Pediatric Infectious Disease Journal, 2002A lymph node excision was performed on a 2-year-old child with right submandibular swelling not responding to oral cefaclor therapy. Histology revealed granulomatous, partly necrotizing lymphadenitis and a large number of acid-fast bacilli subsequently identified by molecular techniques as Mycobacterium bohemicum.

Acute cervical lymphadenitis in children
Journal of Paediatrics and Child Health, 1987AbstractA retrospective study of 78 children with acute cervical lymphadenitis treated in Newcastle over the last 9 years revealed that abscesses formed in 50 children despite antibiotic treatment. Children under 2 years of age were more likely to form an abscess than older children.

MYCOBACTERIUM SIMIAE CERVICAL LYMPHADENITIS
Pediatric Infectious Disease Journal, 2007Mycobacterium simiae, a multidrug-resistant, opportunistic acid-fast bacillus, usually causes infection in immunocompromised hosts. We describe a previously healthy child with M. simiae necrotizing granulomatous cervical lymphadenitis. Cure was achieved with excision of the affected nodes and adjunctive antimicrobial therapy.

Childhood cervical lymphadenitis: A reappraisal
The Journal of Pediatrics, 1974Seventy-four children with cervical lymphadenopathy were evaluated between January, 1972 and January, 1973. Lymphadenitis was atributed to Group A beta-hemolytic streptococci in 26 per cent of the patients, to Staphylococcus aureus (mainly penicillin-resistant) in 36 per cent, to both staphylococci and streptococci in three per cent, and to ...

Neuroblastoma Masquerading as Cervical Lymphadenitis
Journal of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology, 2007Cervical lymphadenitis is a common pediatric finding prompting medical evaluation. The most common etiologies are infectious and reactive. The location of the involved lymph node group may provide clues to the origin of the underlying pathologic process. We describe a 21-month-old boy with metastatic neuroblastoma who presented with classic findings of

Microbiology of Cervical Lymphadenitis in Adults
Acta Oto-Laryngologica, 1998The microbiology of needle aspirates from 40 inflamed cervical lymph glands was studied for aerobic and anaerobic bacteria, fungi and mycobacteria. Forty-two bacterial, 11 mycobacterial and six fungal isolates were isolated. Aerobic bacteria only were recovered in 11 (27.5%), anaerobes alone in five (12.5%) and mixed aerobic and anaerobic bacteria in ...

Pediatric Cervical Lymphadenitis
Journal of Pediatric Infectious Diseases, 2018AbstractEnlargement of the lymph nodes in the head and neck region is a common presenting symptom in the pediatric population as the upper aerodigestive tract is a common source of inoculation of many infectious agents. While infectious processes—both viral and bacterial and both acute and chronic—are the most likely etiology of enlargement of cervical
