Heat Shock Protein 90: From Molecular Chaperone Function to Therapeutic Targeting in Malignancies

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In this review, an integrated conceptual framework linking HSP90's molecular chaperone functions to its pathological roles in cancer is proposed. HSP90 serves as a central node that integrates oncogenic signaling, buffers proteotoxic stress, maintains cancer stem cell plasticity, and shapes tumor‐immune interactions, all of which converge to drive ...

RBM12 Maintains Glioma Stem Cells by Activating Amino Acid‐Dependent mTORC1 Signaling via SLC7A5 mRNA Stabilization

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study shows that in glioma stem cells (GSCs), RBM12 recruits ALKBH5 to remove m6A from SLC7A5 transcripts, thereby enhancing mRNA stability, which elevates large neutral amino acid (LNAA) levels and activates mTORC1, promoting GSC proliferation, self‐renewal, and tumor growth.

Advanced Cervical Squamous Cell Carcinoma with Skin Metastasis

open access: yesTaiwanese Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, 2007
Although cervical cancer is a very common gynecologic malignancy, skin metastasis presenting as an initial sign of recurrent or persistent disease is extremely rare.A 72-year-old woman was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma of the cervix (FIGO stage, IIB), which was treated with concurrent chemoradiation.

Prevalence of type-specific HPV infection by age and grade of cervical cytology: data from the ARTISTIC trial. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Human papillomavirus (HPV) infection causes cervical cancer and premalignant dysplasia. Type-specific HPV prevalence data provide a basis for assessing the impact of HPV vaccination programmes on cervical cytology.

Lymph Node Metastasis Pattern and Influencing Factors in Esophageal Squamous Cell Carcinoma

open access: yesAGING MEDICINE, EarlyView.
Among 388 patients with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma who underwent curative resection, 144 (37.1%) developed lymph node metastasis. Upper thoracic tumors mainly involved upper mediastinal and upper right paratracheal nodes, whereas lower thoracic tumors more often involved paracardial and abdominal nodes.

Squamous cell carcinoma antigen in cervical cancer and beyond [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Gynecologic Oncology, 2013
See accompanying articles by Kawaguchi, Shimura and colleagues on pages 313 and 321. Serum tumor markers can have several roles in many aspects of cancer management including early detection or diagnostic confirmation of cancers, predicting prognosis and/or response of specific treatment, and disease monitoring after primary treatment.

Risks and Benefits of Feeding Enterostomy Creation During Minimally Invasive Esophagectomy: A Propensity‐Weighted Analysis Using the Japanese National Clinical Database

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
Feeding enterostomy during MIE was evaluated in 19 054 patients from the Japanese NCD using propensity weighting. Enterostomy was associated with higher reoperation and respiratory complications, but lower delayed gastric emptying and deep vein thrombosis, with no significant difference in overall bowel obstruction.
