Role of Acid–Base Equilibria in the Size, Shape, and Phase Control of Cesium Lead Bromide Nanocrystals

open access: yesACS Nano, 2018
A binary ligand system composed of aliphatic carboxylic acids and primary amines of various chain lengths is commonly employed in diverse synthesis methods for CsPbBr3 nanocrystals (NCs). In this work, we have carried out a systematic study examining how

The role of histone modifications in transcription regulation upon DNA damage

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This review discusses the critical role of histone modifications in regulating gene expression during the DNA damage response (DDR). By modulating chromatin structure and recruiting repair factors, these post‐translational modifications fine‐tune transcriptional programmes to maintain genomic stability.

Simulation and applicability evaluation of nonwoven geotextile composite for adsorption of cesium Ions in radiation-contaminated soil [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences
In this study, zeolite and Prussian blue were selected as adsorbents for the removal of cesium components from radioactive contaminated water, and their particle sizes and cesium adsorption performances were evaluated.

Separation technique provides rapid quantitative determination of cesium-137 in irradiated nuclear fuel [PDF]

open access: yes, 1967
Potassium cobalt ferrocyanide is used to determine cesium-137 activity in irradiated fuel samples. It preferentially removes cesium from an acid solution of the fuel material.

β‐TrCP overexpression enhances cisplatin sensitivity by depleting BRCA1

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Low levels of β‐TrCP (Panel A) allow the accumulation of BRCA1 and CtIP, which facilitate the repair of cisplatin‐induced DNA damage via homologous recombination (HR) and promote tumor cell survival. In contrast, high β‐TrCP expression (Panel B) leads to BRCA1 and CtIP degradation, impairing HR repair, resulting in persistent DNA damage and apoptosis ...

Drinking high-energy electrolytic water decreases internal radiation exposure caused by the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear power plant disaster [PDF]

open access: yesNuclear Technology and Radiation Protection, 2016
The Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant disaster on March 11, 2011, caused radiation hazards throughout Fukushima Prefecture. Cesium was absorbed by soil and plants and transferred to livestock.

Vacuum squeezed light for atomic memories at the D2 cesium line

open access: yes, 2009
We report the experimental generation of squeezed light at 852 nm, locked on the Cesium D2 line. 50% of noise reduction down to 50 kHz has been obtained with a doubly resonant optical parametric oscillator operating below threshold, using a periodically ...

All-inorganic cesium lead iodide perovskite solar cells with stabilized efficiency beyond 15%

open access: yesNature Communications, 2018
As the black cesium lead iodide (CsPbI3) tends to transit into a yellow δ-phase at ambient, it is imperative to develop a stabilized black phase for photovoltaic applications.

PARP inhibitors elicit distinct transcriptional programs in homologous recombination competent castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PARP inhibitors are used to treat a small subset of prostate cancer patients. These studies reveal that PARP1 activity and expression are different between European American and African American prostate cancer tissue samples. Additionally, different PARP inhibitors cause unique and overlapping transcriptional changes, notably, p53 pathway upregulation.

Room-temperature adsorption behavior of cesium onto calcium silicate insulation

open access: yesMechanical Engineering Journal, 2020
A calcium silicate insulator material was investigated for its interaction with non-radioactive cesium at room temperature by batch-type adsorption experiments. An industrial-grade calcium silicate was weighted and ground into powder with an average size
