Zirconium phosphates deposited on the granulated silica gel as adsorbents for the extraction of cesium, strontium radioisotope ions

Separation Science and Technology, 2021
A preliminary study of a lot of adsorbents for the adsorption of radioisotopes of cesium, strontium and yttrium from the drain waters of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant showed that granular zirco...

Fast concentration of dissolved forms of cesium radioisotopes from large seawater samples

Journal of Radioanalytical and Nuclear Chemistry, 2012
The method developed for cesium concentra- tion from large freshwater samples was tested and adapted for analysis of cesium radionuclides in seawater. Concen- tration of dissolved forms of cesium in large seawater samples (about 100 L) was performed using composite absorbers AMP-PAN and KNiFC-PAN with ammonium molybdophosphate and potassium-nickel ...

Contaminated Marine Sediments As a Source of Cesium Radioisotopes for Benthic Fauna near Fukushima

Environmental Science & Technology, 2016
Marine animals, seawater, and sediment near Fukushima, Japan have become contaminated with 134Cs and 137Cs released in March 2011 from the damaged Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear power plant. Radiocesium concentrations in some benthic fauna declined more slowly than in pelagic fish in the same region. We tested the hypothesis that benthic fish remained more

Retention behavior of cesium radioisotope on poly (acrylamido-sulfonic acid) synthesized by chain polymerization

Applied Radiation and Isotopes, 2019
Poly (acrylamido-sulfonic acid) polymers have been synthesized using the technique of radical chain polymerization utilizing acrylamide and ammonium persulphate. The polymerization was triggered and controlled using radiation from 1.1 μCi radium source. The polymer sheet was characterized using FTIR, DTA, TG, XRD and SEM.

EVALUATION OF CUPRIMINE® AND SYPRINE® FOR DECORPORATION OF RADIOISOTOPES OF CESIUM, COBALT, IRIDIUM AND STRONTIUM

Health Physics, 2011
Cuprimine® and Syprine® are therapeutics approved by the USFDA to treat copper overload in Wilson Disease (a genetic defect in copper transport) by chelation and accelerated excretion of internally-deposited copper. These oral therapeutics are based on the respective active ingredients D-penicillamine (DPA) and N,N'-bis (2-aminoethyl) -1,2 ...

Cesium and Uranium Radioisotopes Monitoring in Kuwait Bay Seawater

2019
Both people and the environment are continuously exposed to sources of radioactivity. Continuous monitoring of the concentration of natural and anthropogenic radioisotopes is of the utmost importance in the estimation of an individual’s received dose.

Sorption characteristics of an economical sorbent material used for removal radioisotopes of cesium and europium

Journal of Radioanalytical and Nuclear Chemistry, 2010
Application study for the evaluation of sorption characteristics of sawdust as an economical sorbent material used for decontamination of radioisotopes cesium and europium from aqueous solution has been carried out in the present work. In this respect, sawdust (untreated and treated by HNO3) has been prepared from the commercial processing of wood for ...

Preparation and evaluation of composite ion-exchanger for the removal of cesium and strontium radioisotopes

Journal of Radioanalytical and Nuclear Chemistry, 2007
Preparation conditions of composite ion-exchanger based on stannic molybdophosphate (SMP) and poly-acrylamide (PAA) have been described. Batch distribution coefficients for some ions were investigated at 25 °C. Sodium ion exchange capacity and breakthrough curves of cesium and strontium ions have also been determined.

Competetive transport of cobalt-60, strontium-90, and cesium-137 radioisotopes across polymer inclusion membranes with DNNS

Journal of Membrane Science, 2007
Abstract Plasticized cellulose triacetate membranes with 3,7-dinonyl-naphtalene-1-sulfonic acid (DNNS) containing o -nitrophenyl pentyl ether (ONPPE) as the plasticizer were prepared for competitive transport of Cs-137, Sr-90, and Co-60 isotopes from aqueous solutions at concentration of 1.0 × 10 −7  M each and containing 0.10 M sodium nitrate.

Separation of cobalt-60, strontium-90, and cesium-137 radioisotopes by competitive transport across polymer inclusion membranes with organophosphorous acids

Desalination, 2006
Abstract The removal and separation of Co-60, Sr-90, and Cs-137 radioisotopes from nitrate aqueous solutions were studied by competitive transport across cellulose triacetate plasticized membranes using organophosphorous acids compounds (D2EHPA, Cyanex 272, Cyanex 301 and Cyanex 302). Competitive transport of trace radionuclides ions from 0.10 M NaNO
