Contaminated Marine Sediments As a Source of Cesium Radioisotopes for Benthic Fauna near Fukushima

Environmental Science & Technology, 2016
Marine animals, seawater, and sediment near Fukushima, Japan have become contaminated with 134Cs and 137Cs released in March 2011 from the damaged Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear power plant. Radiocesium concentrations in some benthic fauna declined more slowly than in pelagic fish in the same region. We tested the hypothesis that benthic fish remained more

EVALUATION OF CUPRIMINE® AND SYPRINE® FOR DECORPORATION OF RADIOISOTOPES OF CESIUM, COBALT, IRIDIUM AND STRONTIUM

Health Physics, 2011
Cuprimine® and Syprine® are therapeutics approved by the USFDA to treat copper overload in Wilson Disease (a genetic defect in copper transport) by chelation and accelerated excretion of internally-deposited copper. These oral therapeutics are based on the respective active ingredients D-penicillamine (DPA) and N,N'-bis (2-aminoethyl) -1,2 ...

Retention behavior of cesium radioisotope on poly (acrylamido-sulfonic acid) synthesized by chain polymerization

Applied Radiation and Isotopes, 2019
Poly (acrylamido-sulfonic acid) polymers have been synthesized using the technique of radical chain polymerization utilizing acrylamide and ammonium persulphate. The polymerization was triggered and controlled using radiation from 1.1 μCi radium source. The polymer sheet was characterized using FTIR, DTA, TG, XRD and SEM.

Effect of cesium radioisotope on humoral immune status in Ukrainian children with clinical symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome related to Chernobyl disaster

Toxicology and Industrial Health, 2010
The aim of this study is to determine humoral immune status in Ukrainian children with clinical symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome 23 years after the Chernobyl disaster. Method and material: The test population consisted of 95 participants: 75 rural patients aged 4—18, who lived in a contaminated area exposed to natural ...

Cesium radioisotope content of wild edible fungi, mineral soil, and surface litter in western North America after the Fukushima nuclear accident

Canadian Journal of Forest Research, 2014
We measured activity levels of radioisotopes cesium-134 (134Cs) and cesium-137 (137Cs) in wild edible fungi, mineral soil, and surface litter of the west coast of North America from southern California to northern Vancouver Island after the Fukushima nuclear accident.

Evaluation of Mini-mental Status Examination Score in a Prospective Study of Neurosurgical Resection and Intraoperative Cesium-131 Radioisotope Brachytherapy in Patients With Newly Diagnosed Brain Metastases

International Journal of Radiation Oncology*Biology*Physics, 2014
population is low. However, loss of PG function of about 5%/ 1 Gy of mean dose has been reported, suggesting that mean doses encountered in this study are significant with potential to impact salivary function and thereby affect QOL in these patients.

Elucidation of sulfidation state and hydrodesulfurization mechanism on ruthenium–cesium sulfide catalysts using 35S radioisotope tracer methods

Journal of Catalysis, 2003
Abstract Alumina-supported ruthenium–cesium catalysts were presulfided using [ 35 S]H 2 S pulse tracer method to evaluate their sulfidation state. Subsequently, using these previously 35 S-labeled catalysts, HDS reactions of dibenzothiophene (DBT) were performed and the mobility of 35 S introduced during the presulfidation stage was investigated ...

Distribution of Cesium Radioisotopes in Pine Biogeocenoses and the Associated Absorbed Dose Rate of External γ-Radiation

Радиационная биология. Радиоэкология / Radiation biology. Radioecology
Data on the distribution of Cs and Cs in the main components (forest litter, upper layers of the mineral part of the soil, elements of the aboveground phytomass of woody plants) of pine plantations in the Belarusian sector of the 30 kilometer zone around the Chernobyl nuclear power plant 8 years after the emergency radioactive fallout are presented ...
