Mass selective separation applied to radioisotopes of cesium

Journal of Mass Spectrometry, 2016
A technique that uses the intrinsic mass‐based separation capability of a quadrupole mass spectrometer has been used to resolve spectral radiometric interference of two isotopes of the same element. In this work the starting sample was a mixture of 137Cs and 134Cs and was (activity) dominated by 137Cs.

Uptake of cesium and strontium radioisotopes onto pillared clays

open access: yesJournal of Radioanalytical and Nuclear Chemistry, 1999
Abstract  Pillared clays were characterised by thermal analysis and small-angle X-ray scattering. They were then examined for their ability to take up137Cs and90Sr/90Y isotopes as a function of concentration and competing cations (Na+, K+, NH4 +, Ca2+, Mg2+) in the concentration range 10−1 to 10−4 M. The radioisotope uptakes were quantified byK d (ml/g)

Preparation and evaluation of composite ion-exchanger for the removal of cesium and strontium radioisotopes

Journal of Radioanalytical and Nuclear Chemistry, 2007
Preparation conditions of composite ion-exchanger based on stannic molybdophosphate (SMP) and poly-acrylamide (PAA) have been described. Batch distribution coefficients for some ions were investigated at 25 °C. Sodium ion exchange capacity and breakthrough curves of cesium and strontium ions have also been determined.

Sorption characteristics of an economical sorbent material used for removal radioisotopes of cesium and europium

Journal of Radioanalytical and Nuclear Chemistry, 2010
Application study for the evaluation of sorption characteristics of sawdust as an economical sorbent material used for decontamination of radioisotopes cesium and europium from aqueous solution has been carried out in the present work. In this respect, sawdust (untreated and treated by HNO3) has been prepared from the commercial processing of wood for ...

Fast concentration of dissolved forms of cesium radioisotopes from large seawater samples

Journal of Radioanalytical and Nuclear Chemistry, 2012
The method developed for cesium concentra- tion from large freshwater samples was tested and adapted for analysis of cesium radionuclides in seawater. Concen- tration of dissolved forms of cesium in large seawater samples (about 100 L) was performed using composite absorbers AMP-PAN and KNiFC-PAN with ammonium molybdophosphate and potassium-nickel ...

Excitation Functions for the Formation of some Radioisotopes of Cesium and Iodine in Proton and Deuteron Induced Nuclear Reactions on Natural Xenon

Radiochimica Acta, 1989
Excitation functions were measured using the 'stacked gas cell' technique for the fomation of {sup 127,129,132,134,136}Cs and {sup 124,126,130,131,133I} from natural xenon in proton induced reactions over the energy range of 9 to 43 MeV, and for {sup 127,129,132}Cs and {sup 124,126,130,131,133}I from in deuteron induced reactions over 22 to 53 MeV ...

Separation of cobalt-60, strontium-90, and cesium-137 radioisotopes by competitive transport across polymer inclusion membranes with organophosphorous acids

Desalination, 2006
Abstract The removal and separation of Co-60, Sr-90, and Cs-137 radioisotopes from nitrate aqueous solutions were studied by competitive transport across cellulose triacetate plasticized membranes using organophosphorous acids compounds (D2EHPA, Cyanex 272, Cyanex 301 and Cyanex 302). Competitive transport of trace radionuclides ions from 0.10 M NaNO

Local structure of strontium adsorbed on 2:1 clay minerals and its comparison with cesium by XAFS in terms of migration of their radioisotopes in the environment

Journal of Radioanalytical and Nuclear Chemistry, 2018
This study aimed to reveal local structures of strontium (Sr) and cesium (Cs) adsorbed on clay minerals (vermiculite and montmorillonite), which suggests stabilities of the adsorbed species of 90Sr and 137Cs in the environment. Adsorption experiments to determine solid-water distribution, XRD for interlayer distances of the clay minerals, and EXAFS for

Competetive transport of cobalt-60, strontium-90, and cesium-137 radioisotopes across polymer inclusion membranes with DNNS

Journal of Membrane Science, 2007
Abstract Plasticized cellulose triacetate membranes with 3,7-dinonyl-naphtalene-1-sulfonic acid (DNNS) containing o -nitrophenyl pentyl ether (ONPPE) as the plasticizer were prepared for competitive transport of Cs-137, Sr-90, and Co-60 isotopes from aqueous solutions at concentration of 1.0 × 10 −7  M each and containing 0.10 M sodium nitrate.
