Impact of Life History on Hippopotamus Skull Ontogeny

open access: yesEvolution &Development, Volume 27, Issue 3, September 2025.
Main life‐history events and traits of the hippopotamus (Hippopotamus amphibius) and its skeletal and craniomandibular developmental processes. The major skull changes in infancy (0–3 years) and puberty (10–15 years) and the late stabilization (20–25 years) of the mandibular shape with respect to the cranial shape stand out.

Towards Implementing Multispecies Harvest Strategies That Are Robust to Interacting Populations

open access: yesFish and Fisheries, Volume 26, Issue 5, Page 923-941, September 2025.
To advance the implementation of fisheries management that is robust to interacting populations (RIP), ecosystem management approaches can be structured using four main categories: (A) whole‐of‐ecosystem; (B) focus or key species; (C) species of conservation concern; and (D) pest or climate‐immigrant species.

The first 25 years of the Northwestern University SuperAging Program

open access: yesAlzheimer's &Dementia, Volume 21, Issue 8, August 2025.
Abstract During late life, “average” does not mean “intact.” For example, cross‐sectional data from a common word list learning test show that average delayed word recall raw score at age 80 (5/15) is approximately half that at age 56 to 66 (9/15). Cognitive and neurobiological dissolution is therefore implicitly incorporated into concepts of the aging
