Design of a Trigger‐Responsive Photothermal Vesicle‐Based Cargo Delivery Platform

open access: yesSmall, Volume 21, Issue 51, December 23, 2025.
Drug delivery is reimagined with a vesicle platform that responds only to light. Gold nanorods are anchored to giant unilamellar vesicles through cholesterol, and tuning the cholesterol concentration ensures optimal attachment and efficient release. Upon near‐infrared light stimulation, antibiotic cargo deploys on demand to inhibit bacterial growth ...

CPOP1 is a key enzyme required for nodule microenvironment control and successful symbiotic nitrogen fixation in Lotus japonicus

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Plant Biology, Volume 67, Issue 12, Page 3167-3181, December 2025.
The enzyme coproporphyrinogen III oxidase plastid related 1 (CPOP1) creates a low‐oxygen nodule environment for nitrogen fixation within nodules of Lotus japonicus. CPOP1 makes heme, which helps control oxygen, and acts in infected cells; its knockout raises oxygen levels, suppresses nitrogen‐fixing enzyme activity, and halts nitrogen fixation ...

Laser-induced vapor nanobubbles improve diffusion in biofilms of antimicrobial agents for wound care

open access: yesBiofilm, 2019
Being responsible for delayed wound healing, the presence of biofilms in infected wounds leads to chronic, and difficult to treat infections. One of the reasons why antimicrobial treatment often fails to cure biofilm infections is the reduced penetration

Discovery of Genetically Distinct, Sympatric Coral Lineages With Temporal but Not Gametic Reproductive Isolation

open access: yesMolecular Ecology, Volume 34, Issue 22, November 2025.
ABSTRACT Coral species abundance and biodiversity estimates are typically based on colony macromorphology. However, such measurements often underestimate the true diversity within coral communities because morphology does not necessarily reflect behavioral or genetic divergence. We previously reported on the unusual spawning behavior of the brain coral

Biomimicry of Magnetotactic Bacteria Via Self‐Organized Soft Matter Dispersions

open access: yesAdvanced Physics Research, Volume 4, Issue 10, October 2025.
Self‐assembled ferrofluid droplet chain coated with a lipid bilayer, mimicking the structural, functional and dynamic properties of magnetotactic bacteria. The controlled magnetic responsiveness suggests applicational potential of these soft matter systems in biosensing, targeted delivery, and magnetic‐responsive materials.

Australia's lice treatment device regulation

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacy Practice and Research, Volume 55, Issue 5, Page 390-396, October 2025.
Abstract Background Before 2002, products for head lice were entered in the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods (ARTG) as Registered or Listed Medicines, depending on the active ingredients. Since 2002, the Australian definition of a medical device has been consistent with that of the European Union, allowing many lice treatments and prevention ...

Colloidal Interactions in Simulated Intestinal Fluids: Implications for Oral Drug Delivery at the Nanoscale

open access: yesSmall Science, Volume 5, Issue 10, October 2025.
The interactions between colloidal structures in intestinal fluids and therapeutics, nanoparticles, and polymers are investigated. By designing different simulated intestinal fluids, reveal how the concentration and type of bile salts and lipids affect drug solubility, nanoparticle aggregation and cytotoxicity, as well as mucoadhesion of nanoparticles ...

Boosting Li–O2 Battery Performance and Stability With ZnI2: Synergistic Effects on Anode Protection and Cathode Activation

open access: yesSusMat, Volume 5, Issue 5, October 2025.
ZnI₂ serves as a bifunctional redox mediator in Li–O2 batteries, enabling both enhanced anode protection and cathode activation. A simple in situ formed LiZn/Zn alloy layer stabilizes the lithium metal surface, minimizing parasitic reactions. This promotes uniform Li plating and a stable SEI.

Spatial Distribution Patterns of Genetic Variation in Four Rhodiola Species: Testing the Centre‐Periphery Hypothesis

open access: yesDiversity and Distributions, Volume 31, Issue 10, October 2025.
ABSTRACT Aim Understanding the spatial distribution of genetic variation is crucial for conservation biogeography. The centre‐periphery hypothesis (CPH) posits that central populations exhibit higher genetic diversity and lower differentiation. However, it remains unclear how species centre definitions and associated factors influence genetic variation
