Design and Implementation of a CFAR Processor for Target Detection

2004
Real-time performance of adaptive digital signal processing algorithms is required in many applications but it often means a high computational load for many conventional processors. In this paper, we present a configurable hardware architecture for adaptive processing of noisy signals for target detection based on Constant False Alarm Rate (CFAR ...

Study of centralized CFAR detection with multisensor

2001 CIE International Conference on Radar Proceedings (Cat No.01TH8559), 2002
The centralized constant false alarm rate (CFAR) detection with multiple non-like sensors is studied in nonhomogeneous background. Results show that the centralized processing for CFAR detection with multiple non-like sensors is heavily affected by the variation of the relative ratio of local clutter power levels. The remedies are given.

CFAR detection in K-distributed clutter

ICSP '98. 1998 Fourth International Conference on Signal Processing (Cat. No.98TH8344), 2002
CFAR detection in K-distributed clutter is addressed. First, we discuss the compound K-distribution model, correlated K-distribution model and the simulation of K-distributed clutter, and then summarize the methods of CFAR detection in K-distributed clutter.

A new and robust CFAR detection algorithm

IEEE Transactions on Aerospace and Electronic Systems, 1992
A constant false alarm rate (CFAR) detection method which is based on a combination of median and morphological filters (MEMO) is proposed. The MEMO algorithm has robust performance with small CFAR loss, very good behavior at clutter edges and high detection performance in the case of closely spaced narrowband signals (targets).

CFAR Detection in Clutter With a Kronecker Covariance Structure

IEEE Transactions on Aerospace and Electronic Systems, 2017
In this paper, an approach for the design and analysis of coherent constant false alarm rate (CFAR) detectors in clutter and interference with a Kronecker covariance structure is described. In a two-dimensional example considered, the interference-plus-noise matrix ${\mathbf X} \in {\mathbb{C}}^{N \times L}$ is modeled by a doubly correlated, zero ...

A robust CFAR detection with ML estimation

2008 IEEE Radar Conference, 2008
Any clutter edge in the reference window of a radar CFAR detection, produces an error in the clutter power estimation which reduces the detectability of the cell under test (CUT). In processors such as OS-CFAR, the designers have attempted to improve the detection performance, nevertheless, none of these processors applies an intelligent method of ...

Detection and clutter suppression using fusion of conventional CFAR and two parameter CFAR

2011 3rd International Conference on Electronics Computer Technology, 2011
A sequence of radar images containing the target is collected using an avian radar system. Radar image is composed of complex background and the target (flying birds, aircrafts, missiles etc). The main objective is to detect the target using Fast Independent Component Analysis (Fast ICA).

Generalized CFAR property for radar detection

2013 IEEE Radar Conference (RadarCon13), 2013
We consider adaptive detection of a signal embedded in additive disturbance whose multivariate distribution belongs to a very general class, including many statistical models commonly adopted for radar interference. We introduce the concept of generalized Constant False Alarm Rate (CFAR) and show that a class of receivers sharing some invariances ...
