Study on the diffusion and migration law of CO2 sequestrated in abandoned coal mine goaf

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
The goaf of an abandoned coal mine, endowed with expansive fracture spaces and an abundance of residual coal, can be capable of sequestrating substantial quantities of CO2. The residual coal is the principal medium for the sequestration of CO2 in the form of adsorption and the amount of sequestration is considerable.

Quantification of rheological parameters in deep‐sea mining plumes

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
This study explores the variations in rheological properties observed during the propagation of deep‐sea mining plumes, utilizing rheological test data obtained from kaolin clay plumes. Subsequently, taking into account the differences in sediment properties, the effects of clay content and clay mineral composition on the rheological parameters of ...

Two‐phase model for the excavation analysis in partially saturated soft soils using the particle finite element method

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical and Analytical Methods in Geomechanics, Volume 47, Issue 2, Page 145-186, 10 February 2023., 2023
Abstract A two‐phase velocity‐pressure stabilized formulation is proposed for the numerical analysis of mechanized excavations in partially saturated soft soils using the Particle Finite Element Method (PFEM). The fully coupled formulation is based on the theory of porous media in association with the Soil Water Characteristic Curve and the porosity ...

A 3D fully‐nonlinear potential‐flow solver for efficient simulations of large‐scale free‐surface waves

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical Methods in Engineering, Volume 124, Issue 1, Page 119-158, 15 January 2023., 2023
Abstract In the quest for a numerical method for surface waves and wave‐induced effects applicable when linear or weakly nonlinear methods are insufficient, a three‐dimensional numerical wave tank assuming fully‐nonlinear potential‐flow theory is proposed.

Experimental validation of non‐Newtonian stratified co‐extrusion prediction models using a digital process twin

open access: yesPolymer Engineering &Science, Volume 62, Issue 12, Page 3902-3922, December 2022., 2022
Workflow of the experimental study for validating non‐Newtonian co‐extrusion flow models: digital twin of the co‐extrusion process based on symbolic regression models, design of experiments, and error analysis Abstract In the co‐extrusion of plastics, pressure‐throughput behavior, layer distribution, and residence time are crucial parameters, modeling ...
