Disparities between objectively measured hearing loss and subjectively perceived aided hearing loss: A scoping review

open access: yesSAGE Open Medicine
Objectives: This scoping review aims to summarize and synthesize research findings on the disparities between audiometrically diagnosed and aided hearing loss versus the individual’s own experience of hearing loss.

Numerical investigation of unsteady detonation waves in combustion chamber using Shchelkin spirals [PDF]

open access: yesCarbon: Science and Technology, 2016
: Pulse Detonation Engine (PDE) is considered to be a propulsive system of future air vehicles. The main objective is to minimizing the Deflagration to Detonation transition run-up distance and time by placing Shchelkin spiral with varying pitch length.

Hydrogel‐Impregnated Robust Interlocking Nano Connector (HiRINC) for Noninvasive Anti‐Migration of Esophageal Stent

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The development of hydrogel‐impregnated robust interlocking nano connector (HiRINC) aims to address stent migration by improving tissue adhesion and reducing mechanical mismatch in self‐expandable metallic stents (SEMSs). The network‐like porous layer of HiRINC enhances adhesion and energy dissipation, demonstrates through ex vivo and in vivo tests ...

Influence of High Pressure Drop Rates on Fatigue Crack Growth

open access: yesChemical Engineering &Technology, Volume 46, Issue 1, Page 45-52, January 2023., 2023
Hydraulic components are subjected to varying loads, limiting their lifetime. Accelerating fatigue studies through high‐frequency pulsation would decrease costs and time to market. However, the fluid‐structure interaction causes a time‐dependent fatigue load.

CFD-DEM Simulations of Current-Induced Dune Formation and Morphological Evolution [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Understanding the fundamental mechanisms of sediment transport, particularly those during the formation and evolution of bedforms, is of critical scientific importance and has engineering relevance. Traditional approaches of sediment transport simulations heavily rely on empirical models, which are not able to capture the physics-rich, regime-dependent

Ontological CFD-repository [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the Institute for System Programming of the RAS, 2018
Based on the RDF-storage, a software tool was developed for creating a knowledge base containing information about the CFD-calculations performed. The software is a set of scripts written in bash and python, which are published under the GNU GPL3 license.

Modeling of Crescent‐Type Internal Gear Pumps Considering Gear Radial Micromotion

open access: yesChemical Engineering &Technology, Volume 46, Issue 1, Page 128-136, January 2023., 2023
A numerical approach for investigating crescent‐type internal gear pumps, coupling a lumped parameter pressure solver with a CFD film simulator based on transient gap geometries solved from gear loading forces was proposed. Volumetric efficiency prediction was validated by measurements.

Aeroelastic analysis of a floating offshore wind turbine in platform-induced surge motion using a fully coupled CFD-MBD method

open access: yesWind Energy, 2018
Modern offshore wind turbines are susceptible to blade deformation because of their increased size and the recent trend of installing these turbines on floating platforms in deep sea. In this paper, an aeroelastic analysis tool for floating offshore wind

Numerical and Experimental Study of High‐Speed Laser Cutting of Copper Current Collectors: Process Optimization for Quality Assessment

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This study employs a CFD model to simulate laser cutting of copper current collectors used for Li‐Ion battery production. This model predicts cut edge quality by assessing the influence of power, scanner speed, and foil thickness. Defects are classified and an optimal working area is found.
