CFD SIMULATION OF SIEVE TRAY HYDRODYNAMICS USING OPENFOAM [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
In this study, a method to perform CFD simulations of sieve tray hydrodynamics using the software package OpenFOAM® was developed and systematically documented.A computational fluid dynamics (CFD) model was used to predict the hydrodynamics of transient

Kinetic study of Fe & Co perovskite catalyst in Fischer–Tropsch synthesis

open access: yesScientific Reports
The investigation of the reaction's kinetics is one of the most crucial aspects of the design of a commercial process. The current research investigates the kinetics of Fischer–Tropsch synthesis using a perovskite catalyst.

Parametric Study of a Fully Passive Oscillating Foil on a Swinging Arm

open access: yesEnergies
A NACA 0015 airfoil is connected to a swinging arm by springs and dampers and is let loose in an incompressible and viscous flow at a Reynolds number of 3.9×106.

Polymorphic Superparaelectric Engineering Boosting Energy Storage Capacity in BaTiO3‐Based Ceramics

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Herein, Ca2+ incorporation promotes the coexistence of CaTiO3‐/BaTiO3‐derived paraferroelectric states, stabilizing cubic‐orthorhombic‐tetragonal polymorphic superparaelectric phases. This minimizes polarization energy barriers, facilitating full polarization saturation without compromising efficiency.

Mixing‐Driven Defects and Composition Evolution in Multi‐Material Metal Additive Manufacturing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Operando synchrotron X‐ray imaging coupled with high‐fidelity multiphysics modeling uncovers how inter‐material mixing reshapes keyhole dynamics and drives distinct pore‐formation pathways in multi‐material laser powder bed fusion (LPBF). Composition‐dependent instabilities trigger defects, whereas rescanning suppresses porosity and homogenizes Cu ...

An experimental and CFD study of liquid jet injection into a partially baffled mixing vessel: a contribution to process safety by improving the quenching of runaway reactions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Thermal runaway remains a problem in the process industries with poor or inadequate mixing contributing significantly to these incidents. An efficient way to quench such an uncontrolled chemical reaction is via the injection of a liquid jet containing a ...

investigation of mercaptan removal from Kerosene using passive mixing tools: Experimental study and CFD modeling [PDF]

open access: yesIranian Journal of Chemical Engineering, 2017
In this work, the role of appropriate mixing for mercaptan removal from Kerosene using caustic soda has been investigated in the pilot scale. Static mixer at different condition has been used as a passive mixing tool to achieve proper mixing and ...

Optimizing Stratification in Binary Colloidal Supraparticles

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Supraparticles from binary particle populations show stratification when dried at high Péclet numbers. In spray‐dried systems at high initial particle concentration and fast drying conditions optimal combinations of particle size ratios and volume fractions that produce maximal stratification are found both in experiment and simulation, contrasting the
